I started the c25k last week. Doing dandy, I think anyway, with no big dramas. But am finding that my top stomach muscles are aching at the end of the session. In fact they're making up for the no aches in my thighs. Is this a fairly normal thing where my lungs etc are getting used to having to work a bit harder and pushing down on other things of should I be toddling off to the gp??
Ta all. :0)
I'm no expert when I googled your question, this web address came back: http://www.livestrong.com/article/433737-why-do-the-abdominal-muscles-ache-after-running/
I'm no expert either- but I notice that after I run- my stomach muscles tend to ache a bit too. I've chalked it up to using muscles in a way I am not used to using them. But as with anything- if you are worried- and it persists- nothing wrong with a trip to a doc.
Not sure if this is the problem but something to think about. You should be breathing with your diaphragm, at least as much as with your chest/lungs. When you inhale, you should feel the lower part of your abdomen expand as your diaphragm move downs to help expand your lungs. Otherwise all the work is being done by your chest and upper abdomen.
