VA Beach Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathon

Hey, I am considering training for the rock n roll 1/2 marathon in VA beach in September, this would be my first one and I'm interest in joining a group or finding training partners! I am currently running 3 and half miles three times a week.

I'm moving to Minneapolis in May, or else I'd be doing the R&R Half for the third time this year. Rest assured, you'll have a BLAST! The bands are good, the cheer squads are fun, and the crowd support is excellent.

Good luck!!
Amy

Hey, you may want to try Final Kick. They are on West Great Neck Rd in VABeach. You can find them online (www.finalkick.com). Ask for Jerry or Amy (owners); they're great people. You can also try Triduo.com and Tidewater Striders. It's a great 1st half - I did it in '03.

Have you found someone to run with? What area are you from? This will also be my first 1/2... I'm from Newport News... also looking for someone to run my long runs with. What is your pace?

Re: VA Beach Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathon
I live in Newport News as well so drop me a line if you are interested in getting together for some workouts. My pace is not great 8.5-9.0 min/mile. More of a plodder than a runner! My goal is to finish the half in 2.25 hrs taking breaks to enjoy the music and shake my rump.

I got the free program for the half and intend to try to follow it. I did a marathon in 04 using a program I got from a book.

Hi... it sounds like you are faster than me. I do my long runs on Saturday mornings. I've been running for 12 years... however, it's been sporadic thru having my two children. So my pace isn't what it use to be... but I'm working on it. My long run paces are normally 10:30ish min/mil. I'm up to 7 miles for my long run. If you are still interested... post back!

I do some... but mostly to save time I run from home. My husband has spoiled me with a Garmin GPS watch... and that has made running so much more easier and fun. I did Noland trail this past Saturday... my favorite trail here so far.
