How do you carry stuff while running?

I usually need to have my keys and either some cash or a debit/credit card with me while running, as I sometimes stop for a snack or run an errand while out running. I have an iPod case that I like that attaches to my waistband. Does anyone have any suggestions for things they use to hold other stuff while running? I don't want it to be bulky, or get in the way. As of now, I've been putting a couple keys inside my shoe but this has gotten annoying.

Thanks.

I have laced my house key into my shoes before (following a tip from the board here!).

I have not tried it myself, but you may want to try putting your debit card and ID into your iPod case, behind the iPod. I don't know what your case is like, but I think it would fit right into mine.

Re: How do you carry stuff while running?
I have a set of wrist pouches from QVC. They're made out of stretchy material similar to a swimsuit and have a zippered pouch. My mom originally bought them for me as a gift when my boyfriend and I bought our wave runners, but I've found they're great for running, too. It's the perfect size for an ID, credit card and a key or two. You can also put a larger item (like a small cell phone) in there, but if you do too much it gets bulky and slides around.

Here's the link if you're intereested: http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/app.detail[/URL" target="_blank">

My ipod (nano) fits, but it's a bit awkward when running so I'd like to get an armband for that.

Because you need to carry a debit/credit card with you, I understand this to mean that the errand(s) you attend to while on your run will require you to carry even more on your return trip (i.e. picking something up at the store???). I understand you don?t want to be bulky, but maybe you ought to think about a backpack that?s suitable for running.

I just got one of the small amphipod pouches and love it...I also have to run with my key(s) and it is great...also large enough for id / credit card / small cell phone...

You can find them at some running stores or on line...check them out at amphipod.com

I have one of those arm bands that has a zipper on it. It is also reflective for night runs, if applicable.
Hope that helps.

Re: How do you carry stuff while running?
I second the recommendation for amphipod - it's my favorite piece of running gear. I have the "Xinglet Pocket." I run early in the morning, before it is light out, so I need reflective gear anyway. This vest is so lightweight and the pocket is really pretty generously sized. Easily can fit a credit card, a key, some money. Once I even put my cell phone in there. Because the pocket sits right over your sternum it really doesn't move around while you're running. Great item.

Re: How do you carry stuff while running?
If I need to run with a key or two, I pull them off the keyring and tie the string of my shorts through them. I often have either my iPod or my camera that I carry in my hand. I know there are cases for the iPod, but I just have never bought one. I have been running like this for 1.5 years. I think I would go lopsided if I did not have something heavy in my hand.

I roll down my socks and put my key under the fold. My debit card and mp3 player go under my sports bra!
If I have to bring anything back I carry a backpack.

Re: How do you carry stuff while running?
okay! But I get the 'dork award!"

I have a fanny pack type thingy (bright yellow!!) snugly fit to my waist (hate it bouncing) because I run w/a dog! Need to carry a spare 'waste bag,' couple of dog treats, cell phone (never used it yet), small water bottle, house key, ipod (sometimes).......it has enough 'extra space' & pockets for extras - should I need them - ie: a particular cool am, I started out w/a lite wt hoodie that I shed as the sun came up....squished it right into the big pocket!! & I get to keep my dog on a leash & still be hands free because I run the handle of the leash through the waist belt!! I definitely get some interesting looks outta that!!

Anyway, there are lots of lightweight options out there for smaller purposes than I use check the gear threads!

Re: How do you carry stuff while running?
I have a holster for my cell phone but before I got that, I just left it in the car. I carry my ipod in one hand and my keys in the other. I experimented with carrying a water bottle too but the sloshing annoyed me.

Re: How do you carry stuff while running?
I put the ipod in my bra until I get the armband... I never carry keys when I run around my neighborhood... I tie a plastic bag to the leash for dog poo, and then I have a water bottle for none other than the dog! I have recently discovered a new run that takes me past the park with running water to refill for her! I know.. she's spoiled!

Re: How do you carry stuff while running?
I pull a rolling brief case and use a bluetooth wireless headset for my phone. The only problem I have is my tie keeps flapping and hitting me in the face... :-)

I tie my key in my drawstring or put it in a pocket, depending on the shorts. Most of my shorts have at least one pocket, so I will put gels in these for long runs. I drive out ahead and plant water for runs over 10 miles (hot in Louisiana). I pick up the bottle, carry it, empty it, toss it in a trashbin or crush it and stick it in my pocket or waistband until I can find a trashbin.

The only time I carried a phone was when I was doing a 10 miler while on a trip. I was in the mountains in an unfamiliar area. I was worried about crapping out, because it was REALLY hilly. I put the phone in a ziplock and stuck it in my pocket. I hate fannypacks! They just bounce too much. Did fine on that run, BTW!

Re: How do you carry stuff while running?
Most running shorts have a little pocket that will fit a key and a $10. On longer runs I carry a water bottle in my hand. The water bottle has a holder that has a small pocket that will fit two GUs. Don't need anything else.
