Re: a-WEIGH-we go!! September 3-9
Morning all ~~ Well, I ran 4.1 miles on Sat which is my farthest run in a long time. It took me 45 minutes to do so I was running slightly over 10. Again, not my 'best' time but my knee didn't hurt and I felt good. Yesterday I spend 4 hours clearing our front lawn so that we can lay new sod. That is crazy hard work to the point that my palms hurt today. I had come up with a new 'plan' for myself for the next month. Run at least 45 minutes 4 times a day, work out with Rontell 2 times and day and whatever else happend would be 'gravy'. The original schedule was run Sat, Sun, rest Mon, Rontell on Tues, run Wed Rontell on Thur off Fri - you get the idea. Well, yesterday's yard work changed that so I'll run later tonight w DH (on his bike) on the bike path.

Michelle Way to go. You are kickin' it!!!!!!!

ok, I have to go cut the grass in my back yard and then do some food shopping. BBL Happy Labor Day All!!!!!!!!

Michelle Nice run. Everybody is off having cook outs and such. I did some more yard work today. My hands are sore - not used to physical labor I guess. Anyway, DH and I are off to a small cookout for dinner and then I think that I'll just soak in the tub for awhile!!!!! Back to work tomorrow.

Re: a-WEIGH-we go!! September 3-9
Nice running Michelle and Cherrie!! Nice to see you two pushing a little further. Cherrie - that yard work counts as cross training you know! Yesterday I was out in the yard weeding, trimming, etc. and have more to do yet.

5 miles for me this morning without Brinkley. The dogs are still at the "Doggie Hotel" until I can sneak out of work to pick them up this morning. Last Friday I ran 12 miles before heading north for a camping weekend. While up north I ran 3 miles both Saturday and Sunday just to keep my metabolism up with all the camping food that I can't seem to resist. Topped the week off with 31 miles which is also a PR for me, not to mention my PR of 121 mile month.

I'll be back later - gotta get going to work.

Happy 2s-day!!

~Mary

Re: a-WEIGH-we go!! September 3-9
Good Tues Morning!!

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!!

Michelizda-WAY TO GO ON THE NEW DISTANCE PR!!!

Cherrie-Looks like you have a great plan for the month!! I think that I have to set some new goals for the month.

Mary-You have been rocking on the miles!! Way to go!!!

Out for a 2.5mile run. Not very far and not very fast but I was out and that's all that counts at this point. I have to pick some fall races tomorrow to re-motivate myself.

Later!!

Re: a-WEIGH-we go!! September 3-9
Morning all ~~ Did not run yesterday. By the time I finished with my back yard I was tired, plain and simple tired. Then we went to a cookout so that was the end of that. I'm a bit frustrated though. I know my eating has not been perfect but it hasn't been totally crazy this last week and I up again. Now I'm up 7 pounds. UGH. This mornings routine w/ Rontell was:

20 sit ups
40 push ups on weight with side raise (10 lb weight)
40 lunges
25 squats with overhead press (10 lb weights)
three sets

50 bicycles
20 push ups with an arm extension straight out in front (5 lb weights)
25 pilai squats with front raises (20 lb weight)
three sets

Mary Nice way of staying on track while camping. AND, you are seriously cranking those miles, last month PR of 100 and already up to 121!!! Way to go. The yard work is definately cross training. I went on this web site that calculates almost any activity and it said I burned about 1100 cals doing that. May not be perfect but I know I worked hard. Yesterday was about half that.

Gen Good job for getting out there. I agree that sometimes it doesn't matter how far or how fast just that you did it!!

ok, I have to do some work.....

Re: a-WEIGH-we go!! September 3-9
Good morning everyone!
Michelle Nice job on the running! When do you leave for Florida? It's October right? I bet you're anxious to see family.
Cherrie SUPER frustrating about the 7 pounds!! But it'll come back off. It's probably 7 lbs. of muscle the way you've been working out!
Mary I can't believe how far you're running. That is so awesome!! Is it easier or harder to run with Brinkley? Or is it about the same?
Gen Since I'm nowhere near ready for a half marathon by next month I might just do the Whistlestop thing and run a 5k they're doing. I thought that might be fun. But I'm not totally sure yet. I usually go up north the weekend before that for Apple Fest in Bayfield. Are you doing the half?

Ok....my weekend was a little weird. Everything started out fine, got up to my parents at like quarter after ten on Friday night. Saturday morning I had a run planned so I got up and went. I took my parents dog Cocoa with us. (She's a chocolate lab/spring spaniel mix, looks like a lab) I was a little concerned because Cocoa is way overweight but Dad said I had to take her because she could do it. Cocoa did awesome. I think I went 4 miles? Maybe a little more. I have to map it out and see. Well I was almost all the way back to my parents when a German Shepard mix comes flying out of nowhere at us. This dog went right after Cocoa. She had her pinned down on the ground and was biting her neck. I was screaming my head off for someone to get out there and help us. I kept trying to pull Cocoa away from her but it wasn't working. I managed to give the other dog two very strong kicks to the head to get her off of Cocoa but then it stopped and started growling at me, then I really got scared. In the midst of all my screaming and yelling (which I'm quite sure I have never done before, I was REALLY panicked) one of the neighbors came out and I asked him whose dog it was....other neighbors but his wife was already on the phone with that lady who came flying out of her house. She called the dog off and I ran back after Cocoa. Now keep in mind my parents live in the country, so neighbors aren't like city neighbors, there's a ways in between them all. I was so shook up by the time I got up my parents long driveway that when I got to the top and started to tell my mom about it I just started bawling!! I thought for sure that dog was going to kill Cocoa...it was just awful. And my parents have had her for 9 years....I love that dog! And of course all the guys were golfing so none of them were around. My mom said she hadn't heard me screaming but she heard alot of barking and thought it sounded weird. She's like Thank God I didn't hear you screaming!!! I would've totally panicked. Well I guess these people have had some other problems with their dog because the lady called to say they were putting her down that day which I felt bad about but geez if the dog is freaking out like that for no reason....it's not good. I'm really lucky I think that I wasn't attacked. Needless to say I didn't do any more running this weekend. Other than that, we had a fun time, ate too much and all that.

Re: a-WEIGH-we go!! September 3-9
Hi there all!

As Jhi said... i made it through and now am just sore and on some meds that are not strong enough. The scabs are starting to fall off and so that is making it worse. I have been able to eat and have been drinking about a gallon of water a day to stay hydrated. I think so far i have lost about 7 lbs sice last Wednesday.

Melanie- scary about the dog... that had to have been hard to watch.

Genn- Great job on getting back out there!

Lindsey- any more news on being PG?

Michelle- How fun to be able to go for a run with DH!

Cherrie- so glad that the knee is feeling better. Could the weight gain be water?

Mary- Congrats on you PR of 31 mines for the week. that is great!

Sorry if i forgot anyone. I will try and check back in later. I think that i might try and take a mile walk today and do some strength training. Light but just something.

Talk to you all soon

Re: a-WEIGH-we go!! September 3-9
{{{Sarah}}} What is your projected "recovery time"? That is a hard way to loose weight - but maybe you can look at that as the positive side to surgery.

Cherrie - your workouts are just amazing to me! Like you, my eating has been not the best and I'm afraid to weigh myself this week. I skipped last weeks weigh-in due to Tom, so we'll see!! Oh, and my PR for last month was 121 total miles. I've only gotten in 11 so far this month.

Michelle - Celebration is a great little town!! That is where I stayed last spring with my neice - her condo was right down town. Pretty hoity toity I must say!! You will love it - and I'm sure your sister won't mind you racing.

Melanie - that is SO scarey about the dog attack!! Is your mom's dog okay?? Poor thing - I know what it is like to be in the middle of that and all the yelling in the world doesn't do any good. Nice 4 miles otherwise though.
Oh, and it is harder running without Brinkley as far as speed, but easier because sometimes he just ****** me off with all his pee/poop/smell this and that stops.

Genipher - So happy to see you out there running again and finding time to post!! A good race is definitely the motivation you are needing.

Speaking of dogs, I picked up my 3 at the kennel this morning. On the way home Hailey barked/snapped at Huntley which is very unusual for her, but I didnt' think much of it. Then DD#2 called and said she had them all in the house and Hailey keeps growling at Huntley. I hope the kennel didn't put those two in a run together, because she may be coming into heat and he probalby bugged the ever livin' sh!t out of her. She's never growled or been mean before. I've been worrying about it all afternoon.

Re: a-WEIGH-we go!! September 3-9
Mary ~~ I hope that everything works out ok with Hailey.

Sarah ~~ What is the anticipated recovery time? I'm sorry that you are in pain. Here's hoping that it gets better faster!!

Melanie ~~ What a horrible story. My biggest fear when I take a new route is a dog attack, never mind if I had one of my boys with me. I your parent's dog ok?

Michelle ~~ I hope that you are right about the weight - it is frustrating for sure.

It may be water gain for whatever reason, my fingers do feel 'puffy' so we'll see. I'm really trying to be on target so time will tell...

ok, back to work...
