I'm 5'9 and 1/2. I'm a sophomore. I can shoot anywhere outside the 3PT line. I have okay handles. I can drive to the basket most of the time and I have pretty good post moves. I'm am a okay rebounder and a good school blocker. I was in my school's varsity during elementary but quit do to academic problems. In my school tourrnament I averaged 18 PPG, 12 RPG and 4 blocks. I want to rejoin the varsity team but I think I should on one position. Any tips or suggestions would be appriciated.
He said he had ok handles, but if he can shoot like that 2 guard might be a better fit. I know our 2 guard my freshman year did a lot of things, played in the post, shot 3's, drove, and his lack of great ballhandling was covered up by the Pg who had great handles.
You're much fit for a guard, especially for a 5'9". Shooting guard maybe? You say you have "okay" handles. So you're not fir for PG... Why? If you're a PG, ball handling is the main skill for you and you said you have "okay" handles. That's a No . no.
A lot of the responses have to do with where you are now. But why don't you focus on your weaknesses, like your ball handling, for an entire summer. Play a lot of pick up ball, one on one and two on two. If you can improve your handles to the point where no one can take the ball from you, and you can dribble against pressure, I don't see why you couldn't play the 1.
At 15 you have 2-3 years to perfect your skills, turn your weaknesses into strenghts, and improve your basketball I.Q.
Yo, what up fools?: It's me, " THE MAN " , Zac Ryan. Even though I'm a cartoon character, I can still ball chump! So if you like basketball, then come check me out and read all my comic strips at:
Joshua, How big are your shoes? Your shoe size will normally determine how tall you get. I knew a player who had size 16 shoes in high school, and he turned out to be 6'10"!
But for now, keep working on your ball handling and shooting. These are the two most important aspects of your game.
