Re: Weight Watchers Runners - September 3rd - September 9th
Hi guys! Sing with me.... M-I-C K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E, Mickey Mouse.... Hope Melanie is having a blast!

No date tonight, TriGuy didn't call back last night to set a plan. To be honest, I am exhausted so I am not that disappointed. I am still hopeful that Baseball Guy will call - or maybe I'll meet someone else this weekend, you never know.

So, it's been a tough week getting back into a routine, and I have been eating and sleeping poorly. When my alarm went off this morning for my 6.5 mile hill run, I said "No Way" and got a 1/2 hour extra sleep and then did a 3 mile tempo run. I figured that was a compromise. Tonight I roasted eggplant slices in the oven for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. I need to do a better job this weekend organizing so next week goes more smoothly.

Barb - glad you got rid of the blah's!

Kristen - always great to see the WOOHOOS (and get one too!) Great trick to get yourself over the hump at the start of the run. I am the same way, which is why I dislike 5ks since I am just getting into the groove when the race is over.

Dan - if you lived closer, I'd be crashing for dinner. That sounds awesome! TJ's this weekend for bison, definitely.

plugginaway - I usually do brown rice sushi so it's Core, but I think 1pt/piece is good, except for the kind that have fried stuff. And I can relate as my chem class is chock full of 19 year olds! But one was very nice and even chatted with me before class.

scove - I think we had the same exact reaction to the alarm this morning!

shannon - great way to look at that quote, that the tough times make you stronger. So true. And you don't have to give things up for Core, you just need to budget your WPAs for them. So it's a different way of thinking, but I like how it has pushed me toward some new foods.

Pink, I use the more old fashioned over the head headphones. I can never find the inner ear ones that are comfortable.

OK, I think it's time for me to clean up a bit around here and get to bed for a good night's sleep. DOR tomorrow, and 18 miler on Saturday AM. Oddly enough, I am not nervous. Yes, it will take a long time, but I have all the tools I need to do it.

Almost time to say TGIF.....catch you later.

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - September 3rd - September 9th
Hello all a quick check in and then to bed, it is 9 pm here which means most of you are already fast asleep. I got up at 5: freakin 30 in the morning to go to the gym and walk on the TM for 20 minutes, what the heck is that all about, so I promised to salvage the day with a run after work well that didnt happen as I was carrying some boxes out of my work to my bosses car I decided I could carry 2 of them and I did until I stepped in the pothole and the boxes went flying and of course twisted my ankle and scrapped up my knee, I just looked up from the ground at my boss and said "uh yeah can we get that pot hole fixed someday" Its all good worked out the ankle, the knee is swollen but I really dont think I hurt anything. We went to dinner at Red Lobster and I was going to feel ok about it becuase I ran but I had to learn to just go and make good choices regardless of the excersize I did or didnt do. So alarm is set for the morning, I will report back tomorrow.....

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - September 3rd - September 9th
Hey Pink - I hope your WI went ok - some weeks are just better than others but in the long run they all add up even the .2's. I was up this week on the scale but I was really the same (didn't run before WI like I usually do - time issue). I also switched from core to flex this week. As for headphones I can't help you mine stay tucked in nice (just the little buds) but hubby got a nike pair that clip around and that worked for him.

Dan - 109 lbs lost that's AWESOME!! Do you have pics you can post on your progress? There must be an amazing difference. The bison shoulder roast sounds yummy! My hubby hunts and we lost a freezer full of venison over vacation. Freezer door popped open and it was all spoiled when we got home. Very sad.

Barb - I love your "Barb Shrinks" blog! That is really cool - good luck with the running. You can do it. Just keep it slow - really slow. That I think is the key - that and competing against yourself. That is the hard one for me because I am so competitive and think I am still 17 and running track - um nope! LOL.

Shannon - hope your knee is feeling ok this morning. I have the hardest time setting an alarm to get up early to run - god bless all you souls that do it and do it well. The only time I set the alarm to run is if I am going to a race and its a distance away. Other than that I run when I get my act together which is usually around 10:00 - such a slug. Its nice working for myself that's for sure - the only problem is the lack of company in my office - me, myself and I - LOL.

Well tomorrow I have a 5 mile race with my team. I really don't want to go (I said that last week about my 5K run - LOL - I see a trend here!!). It is supposed to be 90 and humid here tomorrow and I am burnt out on the racing. After this I have a 10K at the end of October, the HM in November and the Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving. If nothing less I am getting quite a collection of t-shirts this summer!!

Off to get the cherubs to school. Have good runs and enjoy your points!! Colleen

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - September 3rd - September 9th
Hey everybody!

Wow, there's lots going on out there this week.

Happy: Please add a race for me on Sept 29th. It's a 5K called Miracle Miles here in Orlando. They run a 15K too, but I'm not quite ready for that!

I still haven't gotten up the nerve to date anyone I've met on eHarmony. Two guys interested?! That's great. I actually went onto Classmates back in July. It's been 30 years since I graduated from high school (boy I hate to admit that) and I wanted to see if there were any plans for a reunion. Anyway... my high school sweetheart was a member so I sent him an email. Well, the emails have been flying back and forth pretty regularly since then. I'm not sure what's going to happen there, but it wouldn't surprise me if we make plans to get together sometime soon!

Pink Poodle: I was going to buy an iPod Shuffle this weekend, so thanks for starting the discussion about earphones. I never had any problem with them in the past, but I'll definitely check 'em out before I buy.

Dan; you're recipe made me hungry. I'm going to have to see if I can find that wine you mentioned. Sounds yummy!

Well, no running today, but worked out with my trainer, Tomorrow morning I have a 3 mile run planned with a friend. The weather has been slightly cooler here in Orlando the last couple of days, so I have hope that fall temps are just around the corner.

Have a great weekend ya' all!

Mel: Hope you had a great time here in Orlando. Loved you race pics. You look some much more confident than you did last year!

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - September 3rd - September 9th
Good morning all! Just back from my Saturday run, last week I really struggled with this its around a lake and has 2 big hills. Well I am proud to say this week I kept up with running buddies the entire way all 5 miles!!!!! I have come to terms with the hills, just a slow steady pace up them and I was good. I am such a talker in my head when I run and I have to be very careful that its not negative talking, today I just kept saying you can do this at one point I said to myself "man my legs feel like there is lead in them" then right after I told myself " NO its not lead they are just strong legs and they are carrying you up this hill!" Sorry to ramble wonder if anyone else says crazy thing to themselves on runs.
So super proud of myself for the run now off to get ready for WI feel flat this week but that is ok "slow and steady!" last week was a good loss so I am ok if I am flat this week.

Hey guys I RAN 5 MILES!!!! (sorry.....just a minor accomplishment for me)

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - September 3rd - September 9th
Hi guys - a relatively brief check-in....

I had a decent run today for 18 miles, the farthest in training this year. It took a while, between chatting with friends at the water stops and a bathroom search, but I made it. At the end, everyone said I looked fresh, but my legs were really tired. And they reminded me - that's the POINT - your legs are supposed to be tired! You keep running further and further to train them for the race. So, I guess it's a good thing. I took in quite a bit of food during that time (well, it was almost 4 hours esp with those stops!). One package of Clif Shot Bloks, half a banana, and 3-4 orange sections. I had a Greek chicken salad when I came home (yes, real feta) and some pita, and now I feel satisfied. Let's hope the hungries don't hit later.

Dan - good point about the weight training and interval training. I just wish I didn't hate intervals so much - they are good for me, but temporarily suck the fun from running. I think I need a better attitude about them.

Shannon- WTG on the miles! That's great!

niccole - hope you feel better - make sure to get enough rest (easy for me to say without a small child and a catering job!)

Kathy - I have a Shuffle too, and love it for running! I got a clip thing so I can clip it right to my shorts.

OK, I am off but hope you all enjoy the rest of your lovely Saturday. I am going to my new gym tomorrow for a swim and some upper body weights.

Is the Ipod shuffle the small on that you can clip on your shirt or something? I really need a new music player just have a best buy type MP3 player now, wonder if anyone uses that clip one and how do you like it?
