Running Moms and Dads, Wednesday

Looks like another day here at CR! I guess as long as I get a chance to say hello, I don't mind where I am.
I already did my 5 this morning and have caught up on yesterday's small thread so I guess I should hit the shower.
I've got a question for those that have been running longer and farther than I have.
Last week was a tough week in training. I've been struggling with fatigue and a slower pace. I've been putting in the miles per my training plan, but all of a sudden it just seems to be very difficult to maintain a decent pace and I'm extremely tired during the day. It feels like I'm getting in worse shape rather than better shape. Anyone else go through this? Is this a temporary set back that is normally felt during marathon training? I've got about 8 weeks to go and many miles to train, so I'm hoping this is just a slump. I will continue to train regardless of how I feel, but I'm just curious if anyoune else has gone through this phase. (And yes, I know getting up at 2:30 every morning and working 12 hours a day doesn't help, but I can't change that.)
Any thoughts or opinions?

Re: Running Moms and Dads, Wednesday
Good morning!!! Up for my run, boy did 4:15am come very early this morning, its been raining so it was hard to get up.

suds..............good morning, way to go so early this morning on your run. I am not a whole lot of help in your question, but i would also say the hours you work, time you get up, amount you train and being a family man play into it. I my opinion you are in great shape, but I also understand how you feel even though I only run shorter distances and have only run one HM. Good Luck!!!!

Re: Running Moms and Dads, Wednesday
Good morning OS and Karla!!!!! I love to see your posts in the morning.

OS - That's funny that you mentioned that because that is exactly how I'm feeling. And I have felt this way before for my other marathon trainings. Listen to your body. What does your schedule look like this week? Is this a cut back week? You ran 19 miles this past weekend, right? Hopefully this is a cut back week for you. Rest as much as possible. The good news is the feeling you are having now will go away. Treat yourself to something you've wanted for all the hard work and miles you've been putting in.

Only had time for 4.15 miles. It's also actually a relief to run for less than an hour for once.

Morning All!! I guess KR will be down again today. I did 7 this morning, with some hill repeats.
Suds- morning! Good job on the 5... It sounds like maybe you need some well deserved rest!

Karla- i love to sleep when it's raining

Alemma- good job on the run! I bet it seems odd to you to only run 4!! Your mileage is great!

Re: Running Moms and Dads, Wednesday
Good morning.

Last night I got my exercise in took my girls for a bike ride
then I did weights, abs, and the elliptical for 20 mins to
that was good. The first day of school was great for both my
girls so I'm happy

Today will be a lunch time run off 4 or 5 miles.

suds- I have had the same feeling during training I just
think its your bodys way of saying take a day or two of rest
real rest sleep in, feet up eat well and then get back out there.
Have a good day.

karla- good job getting up. I think I would have stayed under the covers if it was raining .

Alemma- good morning. Hey 4.15 miles is great this early

Heather- hi There. I was just reading about hill repeats
in the new runners world I have to start doing some of those.

ok back to work.

Have a good day everyone.

Did 5 tempo way too fast yesterday and school

rest day today

Suds...nice run...that happens to me during training...best thing I can do is take a day or two off or really back down my pace. (not that there's much to back down on ) it'll come back!

Morning Karla

Heather...nice run

Lee...nice work out

Re: Running Moms and Dads, Wednesday
Good Morning Everyone. I am just in from 3.5 miles. It is really cool here this morning and it was a really enjoyable run. Tomorrow is my last day of rehab - 55 minutes of running - Woo Hoo!!

Suds - I am not much help with the M training - but it sounds like you need a couple of days of rest. If you have any short runs scheduled maybe you shoud skip one of them and sleep in one day (4:15 is sleeping in - right?). At this point skipping a run of 4 or 5 miles will not make or break your M and may keep you injury free.

Karla - Good work on the rainy run. That is too early for me.

Alemma - 4.15 is great - I hope to run something like that tomorrow!

Heather - Nice job this morning.

Lee - Good Morning. I am glad your dd's had a good day at school. So far all of my kids are loving school. Of course it helps that we are leaving in 5 days for vacation.
