Re: Tortoise Patrol!
W3D2 complete !! My left knee is still grumbling a bit, but not enough to cause any real pain, and it doesn't worsen with running. I'm hoping lots of stretching after the run, together with some ice, will do the trick.
Funny how the first running period always seems the worst of all - I was breathing slower ata the end of the session than at any other time. Anyone else notice that ?
Kayaker - I also felt my calves and shins were more painful running slowly. I think it's because we 'dwell' on each foot longer, rather than just step through and get off it quickly.

keep it going, Tortoise Patrol !!

Re: Tortoise Patrol!
I did W2D2 tonight and let me tell you it was the worst one that I have done so far. Not sure what the problem was but it was just a crappy crappy run today, I will just have to make up for it on Saturday. I think that I might have been overdoing it though as I now am experiencing shin splint type pain. I am going to try and run through it on Sat and then take my 2 day rest.

As for the demo's....31 year old male, married for a little over a year, just had to get rid of the 4 legged kids cause they were not conducive with my brand new daughter. Once my wife is able to run I think that I talked her into trying the C25K as well.

Good luck ya'll and keep up the great work.

Re: Tortoise Patrol!
Finished W2D3 today. I had a horrible time with it. I just wasn't motivated, but I stuck it out and finished.

Re: Tortoise Patrol!
I did W2D3 today. I ran at the Y again, and they have the treadmills in front of mirrors, so I got to watch myself run. (it wasn't pretty) I paid closer attention to my form, and it seemed to make a difference.

My knee pain is going away slowly, but my ankle is acting up now. Maybe when my body realizes I am not going to stop it will quit hurting.

Re: Tortoise Patrol!
I think I'll be joining your little group here since it's the closest to the week i'm on.

I had started the C25K back in mid July, but during W4, I injured my foot and had to take about a month off for it to heal. I just completed W2D1 tonite and run on Fri/Sun/Tues in the evenings. I've been rocking each workout so far, going much further in the alloted time compared to the first time around, but I do need to slow down a bit. I was having side stiches by the third interval tonite and normally I would not get them until really close to the end. I think I'll change it up on Sunday and go slower but push for a 3-5 minute run for the last interval.

And for the demographics person. I'm a 33 year old male graduate student in Los Angeles. No kids, no pets (though I'm contemplating a cat or two since they fit my laid back personality much better than other pets)

Re: Tortoise Patrol!
W1D3 again for me today. It felt very good. I'll definitely be moving on to W2 on Tuesday! I'm very proud of myself because it was raining at 6am and I went out anyway. Had the track all to myself today as everybody else had clearly stayed in bed -- wimps, the lot of 'em!

Congratulations Sheepdog and Mrs. Sheepdog!

Re: Tortoise Patrol!
W3D3 - very very hard to complete, my knee is acting up. I iced it when I got back, but I need to take 2 days off running. Now it's the knee, not the exhaustion of running, that's holding me back - a good sign that I'm getting fitter.
I discovered some nutritional advice - peas, beans and blueberriesare better for runners than other fruit & veggies like broccoli or strawberries. Do they have more vitamins ? I've no idea, but they do 'conform' to your knee more when you put a bag of frozen ones on it !!

Keep pushing, Tortoise Patrol.

Re: Tortoise Patrol!
I will finish W2D3 tomorrow morning. For now on I am going to try to run Tu, Thurs and Sat. Just fits better with my work schedule. So far so good with the running, the cooler temps seem to help. Congrats Sheepdog on the birth of your baby girl. Hope Mom and baby are doing fine. Enjoy every minute of it!! It seems like yesterday when mine were born and now my oldest will turn 20 next week. Yikes!!! Hope everyone has a great week 3......go Tortoise Patrol!!
Best,
nycdcgal
