I just started running on a regular basis this year. I've run a few 5Ks and am now training for a 1/2 in October. I have noticed that when I run longer than 3 miles there are times that I get chills followed by an intense tingling throughout my body and I feel very cold. This usually starts around mile 3.5 and will happen several times for the remainder of the run. I usually try to push through, but it can get pretty uncomfortable. I'm wondering if these feelings are normal or if there might be something else going on that I should see a doctor about. Any advice would be helpful!
That's never happened to me or anyone I've run with while running, so I wouldn't say it's a normal runner issue. Hope you get some answers - I'd definitely consider asking your doctor's advice!

Definitely unusual. It could be a hydration issue. Are you perspiring normally during your run? Also, what are the weather conditions? Does the occurrence vary with warmer or colder weather?
I'm definitely perspriring normally. I haven't really run long distances in colder weather, but this summer it has happened pretty consistently in all temps. I guess I'll see what happens this Fall/Winter. I usually don't bring water on runs less than 60 min and I'll have one shot bloc before a run. Thanks for the reply!
I live in SE Texas and our running group recommends hydration every 30 minutes because of the high humidity. Make sure you are properly hydrated before you run. Waiting until your thirsty is too late. I would probably check with a healthcare professional.
