Re: Boston Mojo Here!
I'm in.... sort of.

No number. Yup. You heard that right. I missed registration. In January I told myself I'd register first thing in March. March 24th came and went with the National Marathon, and on the car ride home from DC the girl asked if I was registered... Cripes! I forgot. So first thing I did when I got back was register. Turned out that the race closed registration only minutes earlier.

Been on the horn calling peeps far and wide trying to get in. No dice. Boston has a real problem this year with too many runners (the 2nd running boom, you know) and is clamping down on friend's of friends numbers.

Lesson learned.

Good thing is that even though I've got an amazing (for me) qualifying time, I never had intentions of racing Boston, as it's too close to Coeur d'Alene for physical and mental recovery, so this -- not being officially timed -- will force me to enjoy the day without a chip on my shoe.

(Hate me if you want for jumping in, but know that Boston is among the top races for number of unofficial runners. There are so many that in fact the policy is to treat and care for ALL runners, numbers or not.)

Re: Boston Mojo Here!
I'm in!!! I'm in the last coral of the first wave. I'll be running in "the gap" between waves most of the way. My plan is to start slow, look for Thor attempting to jump in, and then push him off the course. If that fails, maybe I'll get him to run with me for a bit. If the monsoon holds off, I'm targeting a personal course record. If not, it'll just be a wet, silly run.

Mojo Mojo to all official (and un official ) racers!

At least we know with the pending weather that you probably won't be getting overheated!

Re: Boston Mojo Here!
I'm there, 2nd corral, 1st wave.

Neither snow, nor rain, nor dark of night shall keep me from a sub 3. My PR marathon, prior to Chicago last year last year, had been on a course where it was raining at the bottom of the hill and snowing at the top. A strong headwind might cause a bit of a problem. I do, however, have an aerodynamically shaped face (i.e. a big honkin nose) - so maybe it won't be that bad.

Thor - a bandit! Man, its a good thing you've built-up so much good karma.

Here's hoping that everyone running (both officially and unofficially) has a great race and a great time.

Mike

Re: Boston Mojo Here!
I will be there FINALLY after watching the race two years holding back tears of frustration. I am in 16th corral. Yes, I will enjoy every step of it! No time goal here - my hip is barking at me for more than a few days.

Enjoy your Boston, especially the first-timer (Mrs. X, who elses?)!!!

Re: Boston Mojo Here!
Best of luck to all you racers! The weather is looking to be a challenge so pack a wide range of clothing options. If it isn't too bad I may be out on the course spectating. Do you all know your bib #'s yet? I know Thor will be "OO7"

Good luck to all the Boston Marathoners. I'll come across the river to cheer you on if by some miracle the sun comes out on Monday. Otherwise I'll be with you all in cyberspace.
