Rock Creek Parkway course chng

Does anyone have any insight into the course change for the MCM up/back Rock Creek Parkway?  What's the likelihood of it being crushed with runners on race day?  Out and back routes always worry me when there are 1,000's of runners...

As a side note, it seems that activity here has pretty much died, but I doubt that the MCM runners have... what gives?

I don't imagine it will be too bad, at least no worse than the old route.  The uphill (on Reservoir Rd. I think) definitely got crowded.  It's 5 miles into the race and things will start to thin out some anyway.  If my recollection serves me right (Rock Creek Pkwy was in the course a number of years ago), the road is divided, outbound on one side and return on the other.  So that should also help reduce congestion.

Things here have been dying over a couple of years.  Most have moved to Facebook and other forums.  Active has done it's level best to destroy things with constant changes, difficulty logging in, etc.  The people I talk to most have been on FB for a couple years (as a group).

I haven't been on these forums in a while. This is my first MCM and I remember there used to be lots of threads about it every year so I just decided to come on and see what folks were chatting about since I'm running it this year. Looking forward to a great marathon. Happy training!

The Rock Creek Parkway was in the MCM several years ago, and was a  pleasant stretch.  The parkway is uphill outbound and downhill on the return, but the slope isn't enough to worry about.  There are trees on both sides of the parkway, so you will get a little relief from the sun and wind, if those are a factor on race day.  The parkway is wide enough and far enough into the race that you shouldn't worry more about congestion in that stretch than you would encounter in other parts of the race. I also recall that the parkway was divided well enough on the course so that runners don't spill into the opposing lanes.

Oops. I guess I should check in more often. Sorry, folks, I've had my head up my PhD lately. *waves cheerily*
