The $75,000Reflekt Polarized Big Shot Volleyball Series will bring beach volleyballplayers from throughout the US and Canada to Siesta Key October 19-20 for the36th tournament in the 37 event 2013 season. The tournament lastyear brought 200 teams from 20 states and Canada to Siesta Key with the help ofGold Coast Eagle Distributors, The Boatyard Grill and the Sarasota County ParksDepartment. Over $2,000 prize money will be awarded in the last event beforethe 2013 Volley America National Championships the following week in ClearwaterBeach, FL.
Top players fromthroughout East Coast will be playing in Siesta Key starting at 9 am Saturdaymorning including Tampa’s Matt Henderson, and Pompano Beach brothers Steve andMark Van Zwieten. Mark Vanzwieten was the youngest player to earn a pay checkon the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour in 2008.
Top femaleplayers will include local stars Chara Harris and Megan Wallin all summer and TaraKuk/Kendra Vanzwieten who have fared well on the Pro Beach Volleyball Tour.Many additional top US players will be registering as the event date drawsnear.
The tournamentsare sanctioned by Volley America, the largest grass roots program in the US.Volley America offers tournaments, clinics and leagues creating opportunitiesfor players of all levels to improve their game.
Players of allskill levels will be eligible for play in the tournament co-sponsored by RiderSandals. There will be divisions for intermediate and novice level events withplayers competing for merchandise prizes from Spalding, Rider Sandals, SOBVacations, Rox Volleyball, Bally’s Casino, ZEMgear, Rox Volleyball, 1st PlaceVolleyball, SOB Volleyball Vacations, Sprout Watches, Park & Sun net systems,Dig Magazine, Sportime, Horry County, Spike Key
Tournament playwill start at 9 am on Saturday and 10 am on Sunday. Player check in is one hourprior to start time. Men's and Women's Open, AA, A, and B Divisions will playon Saturday. Coed Open, AA, A, and B teams will play on Sunday. Admission isfree for all spectators who are encouraged to come early for a front row seat.A player’s party open to the public, will be held Saturday evening at TheBoatyard Grill at the south bridge onto Siesta Key. East End Volleyball has been organizing beach volleyballtournaments for 34 years since 1977. Based in the East End of Long Island, EEVBhas grown into the largest beach volleyball series in the East End of thecountry with tournaments from Newport, RI to Hollywood, Florida.
