Spalding Volley America Nationals Coming to Clearwater Beach, FL

The Spalding Volley America will return to Clearwater Beach,Florida on October 26-27, co-sponsored by Rider Sandals. The tournament will bethe largest amateur tournament ever held in Clearwater Beach and may be outgrowingthis site for future years.

The tournament will be the National Championshiptournament for Volley America, the largest grass roots program in the country.It will attract players from throughout the United States plus teams fromCanada and Sweden to the white sand beaches across from the Magnuson Hotel nearPier 60.

The tournaments will be the final tournament in the seriespromoted by East End Volleyball throughout the East Coast. The series has awardedover $75,000 cash prizes throughout the season that started February 25 inClearwater Beach.

Top male players competing include Florida players AdrianCarambula, the best player on the East Coast, and Matt Henderson, the top Tampaarea player. Also playing will be Volley America Mid-western Champions BryanMcDermand and Joe Baker from Chicago, SE Champions Jake Elliott and HudsonBates, NYC Metro Champions Ihor Akinshyn and Adam Niemcynowicz and New EnglandChampions Kyle O’Neil and Matty Ferreira.

Top female players will include local star NYC MetroChampions Svetlana Simic and Roberta Holehouse, SE Champions Caley Redden andBranagan Fuller and Mid-west Champions Jitka Stehnova and Erin Personen.

The tournaments are sanctioned by Volley America, thelargest grass roots program in the US. Volley America offers tournaments,clinics and leagues creating opportunities for players of all levels to improvetheir game. Players who really excel can qualify for the Pro Tour throughEEVB’s top events.

Players of all skill levels will be eligible for play inthe tournament sponsored by Rider Sandals. There will be divisions forintermediate and novice level events with players competing for merchandiseprizes from 4C Totally light2Go, Spalding, Rider Sandals, Reflekt Polarized sunglasses, SOB Vacations, RoxVolleyball, Bally’s Casino, ZEMgear, Sprout Watches, 1st Place Volleyball, SOBVolleyball Vacations, Park & Sun net systems, Dig Magazine, Sportime,  Horry County, Spike Key.

Tournament play will start at 9 am on Saturday and 10 amon Sunday. Player check in is one hour prior to start time. Men's and Women'sOpen, AA, A, and B Divisions will play on Saturday. Coed Open, A, and B teamswill play on Sunday. Admission is free for all spectators who are encouraged tocome early for a front row seat. A player’s party open to the public, will beheld Saturday evening at the Shephard’s in Clearwater.                      Playoffs 4-6 pm each day

Cost:       Free for spectators, $60/team
