Late last year, I started a non-profit with the intention of helping hockey players in the Mid-Atlantic region that might be having a hard time paying for the sport that they love... Specifically kids. For a lot of families, playing hockey requires a considerable financial sacrifice. If a family experiences any adverse event (e.g. job loss), it may mean that their son or daughter has to sit out of the game that they love. For some families, the sacrifice is simply an on-going sacrifice, meaning that they struggle year-to-year to make sure that their skater gets on the ice. Rock for Hockey is here to help where we can to help families allow their players to continue to play hockey.
So, we set up a web site (www.rockforhockey.org), a board of directors, and a mission. Take a look at our site. Decide if you want to contribute or not. Obviously, we wany contributions.... If you decide NOT to contribute we ask that you simply just follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn... And spread the word. We want to make sure that families and their players that have committed to the game can continue to play.
