Nothing worse for shin splint than jumping of any kind! Especially on a hard surface. I know this is an old thread but shin splints are usually caused by landing too hard on your heel which forces the calf to tear where it wraps around the shin. Rest and changing your technique are the best fixes. I also recommend compression socks for both running AND recovery time as once you've had shin splints you are highly likely to get them again.
