Swimming is like golf...

If you think about too many things at a time, everything goes to **** in a handbasket!!

I recently sent a video of me swimming to my coach and a group of tri friends and got lots of great advice. The problem is the "lots" part. I keep thinking about my arm position, breathing, kicking, rolling, etc etc. I find I can only work on one thing at a time. It's driving me crazy. HaHa. Anyways, if there are any other golfters out there you know what I mean.

That's too funny! You're right- it's a lot like golf. One big difference- you do have to pay attention to when you breath. Don't try that one while golfing.

That is what drills are for. You only have to think about 1 or 2 things at a time.

Pick a different focus each week. In a month you will see improvements. Example, head position, hand entry, rotation, recovery.

Do you have a snorkel? It is a great tool to concentrate on your hand entry. I am using it to focus on my catch/pull.

I've often thought that swimming and golf are much alike. 80% technique, 20% power. That's why you can never safely bet against the fat guy or gal in either sport.

And I agree with others. Pick one issue and work on that for a couple weeks with drills. Then pick another issue and start working on that while remembering what you learned from the first drills. Then keep adding a new drill every couple weeks. By the end of summer you'll be teaching them how to swim!

Thats because the water is cold.
Balls are hard to find in cold water.I have two, and sometimes I cant find either one.

I have recently reached the conclusion that golf is 90% mental and 10% mental. Maybe that's why my game never improves.... Hmmm...
