The 4C Totally Light Big ShotVolleyball Series, presented in Hilton Head by Spalding and Sprout Watches,will return to Beach House in Hilton Head on May 3-4. Teams from throughout theEast Coast will compete as they warm up for the 2014 summer season. Top maleand female doubles teams will compete for $2,000 cash prizes plus a trip to the$8,000 Big Shot Championships September 6-7 at Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City,NJ. Tournament play will start at 9 am with women’s finals scheduled for 6 pm Saturdayand men’s finals 12 noon on Sunday. Admission is free for all spectators.
The tournaments are sanctioned byVolley America, the largest grass roots program in the US. Volley Americaoffers tournaments, clinics and leagues creating opportunities for players ofall levels to improve their game. The players in the Hilton Head Spalding Open willearn seeding points for the SE Volley America Regionals to be held in MyrtleBeach October 11-12.
Top S. Carolina players expected toplay in the Hilton Head tournament include Jake Elliott in the Men’s Divisionand his wife Adria Elliott in the Women’s Division. Both have played on the Pro Beach VolleyballTour and are expected to have the inside track to win the trip to Atlantic City.Additional top players expected to compete include Florida players Bill Chenoweth(Orlando) and Kent Ammons (Jacksonville). Separate divisions will be held forplayers of intermediate and novice levels on Saturday and Sunday. The $60 entryfee entitles players to a full day of tournament play, an official Sprout WatchBig Shot Volleyball t-shirt, and a chance to win merchandise prizes fromtournament sponsors 4C Totally light 2Go, Reflekt Polarized sunglasses, Spalding,ZEMgear, SOB Vacations, Rider Sandals, Karch Kourt net systems, Dig Magazine,and Sports Authority. The public can met the players every Saturday evening atthe official Player’s Party at the Beach Club’s Tiki Bar.
