Oh yeah, I was in our church choir when we first moved here too, but then I started running, and doing du's, and...well, you know, many races are held on Sundays, as are long runs or rides or bricks....

Re: Were you in Band?
Trumpet all my life...including drum corp with the Phantom Regiment...I also play guitar (mainly acoustic) and piano...and I attempt to sing-but end up sounding like Bob Dylan. I have a small recording "studio" in my basement...many hours down there...I've recorded a couple albums, but only a handful of songs that I would consider "worthy"...I love music. If I ever gave up serious training to become a "weekend warrior" runner/triathlete, I would devote a lot more time to my music.

You mean OCD nerds? Yep, looks that way. I wasn't in band, but I sure had the nerd part nailed in high school. Still do, for that matter.

Phantom....that's awesome! I always wanted to do drum corp, but alas, they don't allow woodwinds Oh well, I make up for it teaching the flute section for a h.s. band (1st in the state 3 years in a row....oh yeah )

Someday I'll make it to DCI finals....when I can afford it! Until then, recorded edition on ESPN

Yup, I definitely have the nerd part down in most areas of my life! ****, when I go drinking with my music friends, we tune chords with our beer bottles How 'bout a fully diminished chord?

Does it make me a nerd to have read 5 books (1 of which was 1600 pgs. long with tiny print) while I was on vacation?

It will be in indianapolis the next bunch of years b/c they built a new stadium and got DCI's input on the design for merry music making.

If George Hopkins had his way there would be woodwinds.

Ha...we should start our own drum corps thread.

Did I mention that freakin' euphonium was HEAVY?!?!

PS-the regionals are great to see!

Where do you live? Champions are in Cali this year!

PPS-I MET MY HUBBY ON THE AIRPLANE ON THE WAY BACK FROM FINALS IN 97!

Re: Were you in Band?
Yes, for 7 years. Concert band, wind symphony, wind ensemble, symphony orchestra, chamber music ensemble ... played French Horn. Didn't do too much music camp, just one short stint for, I think, 4 days. It was incredible! Life as an innocent adolescent ... Sigh ...

hehehe Can I join even though I'm a wannabe?!

Crossmen....they've had some good shows over the years!
Can't say I'd want to carry a euphonium, though.....

I've been to Drums Along the Rockies a few times in Denver, but not finals. When DCI World Champs was in Denver, I couldn't afford the tickets! Oh well, some day.....

jkv135 - yeah, the acoustics are unbelievably bad! I'm grateful I've never had to play in that dome. Unfortunately for my students, they have. I like the earplug trick!

Viola, Orchestra, the pitt for musicals and all that other dorky stuff. I needed something to balance the volleyball, swimming and track.

I left the band not long after we recorded the demo. My only claim to fame was that I was replaced by Kyle Cook who went on to play with Matchbox 20.
