My last run was...how was yours?

I can't remember anymore my last run because it was years ago. But, I long to back again in running.

October saw a seasonal break and a few weeks, two, of crosstraining, then a couple more of picking the running and building the base back up with crosstraining.

My last run was good, a 40 minute progression with 15 minute warm up & 20 minute cool down. Nice. The last few have been really good easy runs avg. 75% effort. Easy. Loving that fall weather. Everything isn't such a slog.

I'm trying to build up my base and get more comfortable at 5 miles or more at a time of running.  I ran the first 4.5 miles of my run yesterday and then ran/walked the rest.  I ran 5 times last week, but usually average about 4 times a week

It sounds like you're headed in the right direction, and my gut tells me that if you keep up the four to five times per week thing, within a month you'll be running six or more miles at a crack more often than not.

    Keep up the good work.

FWIW, a year ago I would not have been able to run as far and as frequently as you are now; fast forward a year and a 70+ mile week is kind of ordinary.

shipo:  wowza - 70 mpw!  That's awesome.  And a testimate to your level of fitness.  That is very good. I flat out don't have the time to do that. 45 mpw has been my max.

Re: My last run was...how was yours?

    Thanks Bill,

I didn't set out to run that kind of mileage, it just sort of happened.  A year ago I was staring at a fat old man in the mirror and decided I needed to get my fat old butt back out on the trail or die, and since I still had lots of plans for the next 50+ years, dying wasn't an option.  Due to the debilitating effects of two broken legs (28 years apart) and significant weight gain coupled with trying over and over again to start running again (only to end up injured), I hadn't done much running for the previous decade, so when I got myself back out there last April I decided to be a strict adherent to the Church of LSD.  Now 2,600+ (mostly) injury free miles later I have to say even I'm surprised at the progress I've made and the kind of mileage I'm logging.

By the way, a 45 mile week is nothing so sneeze at.  Between 1972, when I started running, and last July when I started ramping my mileage up (just to see what would happen), I don't think I logged more than an handful of 45 mile weeks.

    Regards,

    Dale

I went 5.25 miles outside today.  It was pretty warm by the time I finished.  Looked like someone washed me down with a hose.
