Y-Me 5K run RR

This is I think the 12th year that I have been doing this run-it's a very special event for me since my SIL is a survivor.
The run/walk took place on Mother's day in downtown Chicago. This year there were about 30,000 participants (guestimating there were about 8,000 runners-the rest were walkers) and it looks like over $2 million dollars were raised!

Anyway-

Breakfast: venti skim latte and flax seed roll on the train

Overall time: 28:59 (I'm not a fast runner)
mile 1-8:50 (surprising since it was very crowded and a lot of manuerving had to be done)
mile 2-9:15
crappy third mile...

This is the first time out running in a week due to a nasty bronchial infection.

Survivor of what?

A 12 year streak is impressive.

Nice job, especially knowing how ill you have been this week! I love the races that have that kind of a draw that make you want to run them over and over again. Congrats on an impressive 12th

12 years...WOW! Great job running for you and for your SIL. My mom is a survivor too so races like these mean a lot.

Way to go Pich! That is a great time! I wish I could do sub 30 for a 5k! I'll be happy with sub 40-45 for my race Saturday!

12 years in a row is awesome. Way to go with being sick and all!

I can't imagine a 5K with that many people. Most 5Ks around here have no more than 150. Maybe I should get out and see the world more often

Nice going! That is a huge race. Unless you can run in the front it would be difficult to have a fast time. Running after being sick is hard to do and you still turned in a decent time.

I agree: 12 years is awesome. Even more awesome is that you support the cause. Much less awesome is that your SIL was stricken. But even more awesome is that she is strong; she is a survivor.

I'd say it was an awesome day.
