finally a RR! Flint Hills Oly

the short version:
Ginny Lee 24 2:18:03 25:00 2:04 1:11:33 0:47 38:38

Basically the same course as last year (although we all know swim courses are almost never the "same") and I managed over an 8 minute improvement! Huge thanks to my coach Sara....and I was a little worried coming into the race after a hip issue kept me from running most of March and April...
My T1 is still slow...got to learn to get that wesuit off the foot, aaargghhh. The weather was perfect mid 60s to 70s, a little wind but not too much. I held back a little on the bike, worried mostly about how it would affect my hip on the run (the aero position has made the hip a little tight in the past), but my run was right on...my splits were even the whole first loop and then a nice negative split. It was good enough for second woman OA and 25 place OA. Pics will be coming on Thursday. Now another short race in two weeks and then AG Nationals.....who else is going?

Woohoo Ginny!! Glad to see you posting a race report. Sure has been a while, but you are as fast as ever. That run...I would kill to have that run!! Congrats on this race, and much mojo in the upcoming races. I know you'll do extremely well, and I look forward to those race reports too.

Holy Aero Batman, that is smokin! And you're worried about a 2:04 T1?? Wow. You're gonna rock Hagg Lake!

p.s. - Where are you staying for Nationals? I live just North of Portland (Vancouver) and would gladly lend support, room/board, whatever.

Excellent swim time. Excellent T1 when you take into account the suit. You held back on the bike, which then sling shot you through T2 (did you even stop to change shoes!?) and killed the run (did you still have your bike during the run!?). Wow. Great job!

Yeah, OK, swims can vary....but not by 8minutes! That's some really nice improvement, Ginny. And your T1 seems OK to me, but given the level you're at have you considered having someone video your next race's T1 so that you can break down how much time is spent doing what? Might help you identify where the biggest bang for your buck is going to be in terms of things to work on.

Can't wait for the pics. Best of luck at Nationals.

Re: finally a RR! Flint Hills Oly
When I saw the name of the race, I wondered if it might not be held near Tuttle Creek. I was born in Manhattan and, though I grew up in Missouri, we visited a lot and spent a fair amount of time at Tuttle Creek. (I don't suppose there's still a cabin made out of an old railroad car up there?)

Awesome improvement on the swim! Will we get to see Pics of the hardware, too? Congrats on a great race!

Great job! That is a burning fast run. And the other two events were pretty quick also!

Good luck in your prep for Nationals.

Great race Speedy! We've got a CRMSer coming to AG Nationals? Woohoo!!! Hagg Lake is 20 minutes from my house and as Matt said, flat isn't the word I'd use to describe it. But it's a great course and the water will be on the cold side this time of year.
