Sunday, June 17th...Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!!!

Today in History: 1972: Burglars caught inside the Watergate building.

90 min early morning run today, came out to exactly 10 miles. Weird, I never have even numbers like that. Anyway, the focus of this run was to stay in Z3 the entire time, so for all you geniuses out there, tell me what the following readings mean from this workout. Time is my mile split and the number in parentheses is my average heart rate for that mile. My max HR is around 190, my sitting HR is around 58 and on waking my HR is usually around 38:

8:27(138), 8:39(142), 8:41(144), 8:54(143), 9:05(144), 9:09(145), 9:16(145), 9:17(146), 9:16(145), 9:16(147)

This is the first season I've done HR training and I've been doing it since early January. This is just the first time I felt like putting any numbers out there to be diagnosed by others. Hoping to get some good feedback. If you need anymore info, I will gladly provice it.

Well I can't tell you much about your heart rate, but anyone who finishes with 00 on the second side of the clock deserves a pat on the back.

33 mile group ride on my slow bike. Felt strong. Ran 16+ minutes and felt like I was hammered. I really have to figure out how to get more comfortable with the running with speed.

Sprint triathlon July 8th. Got a couple more weeks of solid training to prepare.

Re: Sunday, June 17th...Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!!!
I had a really early run this morning - mainly to be able to get out and run and go back to bed so my 2 boys could wake me up with breakfast in bed and some gifts

Last longish run before Belgium - 55 mins nice and easy with a few pick ups - followed by cereal and eggs and toast and some new running socks and a trip to the cinema to see Fantastic 4 ise of the Silver Surfer - I suspect that this was more the boys idea of a treat but a real nice fathers day anyway -

All the rst of you Dads I hope you have as much fun As I am -

Re: Sunday, June 17th...Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!!!
All: Happy daddy's day, all! DD1.3 and DD2.75 got me a coffee mug they'd painted, glazed and had fired at local art studio. It's the cutest thing ever and I was sure to put it to good use this morning. My wife got me an Iroman watch so now I don't have to memorize my splits in my races. I already used it today for my ride. They are all so sweet and I am so blessed to have them in my life (and not just because they give good presents).

Me: Set out to do a 22mi bike ride with close to 1000ft of evelation gain. As I was headed out that way I ran into strong headwinds, some rain and many very dark looking clouds in the direction I was going (west/north). With the f'cast for t-storms, I quickly bagged that ride and turned around and did a 14.4mi loop in around 54:00 (~15.8mph). The new route had no lack of hills with 482ft of climbing overall. You just can't get away from that in NH. My wobbly legs don't mind. It's good for me. Like oatmeal. It was a very warm and humid ride too. I need to get that other bottle cage installed if I am going to be upping the mileage. I also left my socks at home and found my feet didn't fall asleep so no more socks for me. That made all the difference in this ride.

Good day and good workouts to all!

Edited to add:
Mike, don't forget your HR is affected quite a bit by the temp. I know you live in TX so that will be a factor for you. I know with my quick bike ride today the warmth and humidity had my HR through the roof when other days on the same ride it would not be. Beyond that, I am not sure what your numbers mean (other than you are in great shape). I'll defer to the experts but I am sure they'll want to know how hot it was for your run.

Sorry xflbk - no HR pro here...or genius in general.

Me - OW swim in wetsuit, plus a short swim without, just for fun. I have a heck of a time bilateral breathing in a wetsuit. Not sure why, not too worried about it.

I was supposed to run, but just never got around to it. Oh well.

Enjoy all.

Busy day for me, and will continue right through the night. Started with what should have been a group run with a few others only to either miss the meeting point or miss the note of change of course, next to a local Starbucks, and then to the Ashland Triatlon where I cheered on fellow Tri-club mates and even our very own LRR, who tore up a tough course made tougher by the growing heat of the day. If that wasn't enough I had to drive 60 miles to work so that I can finish a few things before I fly out to Idaho. Worst part is that when I got here (work), everything is broken in the area I'm supposed to work on. Some knucklehead commited their work without testing. That blows. Think I'm about to waste my day here.

So, me...

7 mile tempo run chasing a phantom pack that may or may not have existed. Solid run. Told myself stories as the pace creeped up.

Great day, Tri-spokes!

75 miles @ 4:13 (with some rest stops) in 500degree heat (ok, 80 at start, 89 end and SUNNY)

Followed by 15min run trying my new stretch for the shin. Can't be totally sure, but seems like the stretch works! Hard to tell because I cannot run in 89 degree weather so I was DYING. But, the shin didn't hurt! WOOT

Ok, I'm off to sleep, eat, and be daddy

Solo ride for me this morning. As much as I love riding with my kids, I was ready to ride for me. Started early because it was supposed to be HOT today. Did an out and back with a stop for water and 'hydro-therapy' (dumped water over my head!) at m43. It was 90' when I got home.

66m, 4:17, 15.3mph

Home long enough to grab something to eat and drink, changed and headed up to the lake for a swim! Goal was 30min, since I didn't know what I had left in the tank. Still working on face in the water swimming. Going bouy to bouy, switching between side and breast strokes. And it was working today! I was able to do mostly breast stroke!!! I am glad that I've worked up to 45min side stroke because it does give me the confidence that I CAN swim that long. I figure another couple weeks of breast stroke, then I'll switch over to free style. Total swim 45min.

Happy Father's Day Dads!

Once again I'm robbed of the chance to use my new CO2 inflator. In mile 39 of a 43 mile ride where I averaged 17 mph...my highest yet when I felt my rear tire go flat. Oh well, it happens. Start changing the thing when I snap one of my two tire levers. Uh oh. No way I can get the tube out without two levers so I call for support, get home and cleaned up, give more money to my LBS, and spend the rest of the afternoon cleaning the bike after leisurely changing the tire with my brand new, better tire levers. I can't explain it but the shiny chain & cog make me happy.

Have a great rest of the day!

Add on another 1.5m Zone 1 w/ DS6. He rode the entire thing (except the BIIIIIIIG hill) on 2 wheels. Just weaned him off training wheels over the last 2 weeks, he rode "uphill" first time yesterday, so today we went "the distance"

Woot!

Yay for your DS, ronbo.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads (even though Father's Day is in September )

Rest day for me. Was considering going for a paddle, but woke up and thought the clock said 9.30 and I'd missed my lift. Realised my dad was still home, thought it odd, but not awake enough to worry (or get up and see if he could still take me!). Checked the time again a while after he left and it still said 9.30. Oops, must've only been 8.30 the first time!

Re: Sunday, June 17th...Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!!!
Hope all you dads had a terrific day!

Rest day here. Spent most of it at a big send-off for local tri-club members headed to CdA. Our club of 120 or so folks, is sending 20 people. It will be a busy, busy day of tracking.

Mike, I'm no HR guru, but those numbers look freaking great to me. Cardiac drift (higher HR later in run) is normal, so it makes sense that you'd have to slow a little to stay within zone. But it's impressive that you had to slow so little. And a.m. RHR at 38! If you ever have surgery, make sure your docs and anesthesiologists know you're an athlete. Otherwise, they might think something was wrong with you!

You might want to put HR numbers on a separate thread in case some of the local HR gurus don't frequent the daily thread. (I'm thinking Sheldon would be a great guru on this topic.)

Ronbo! Big woot on the shin! Let's hope it's the stretch, and not the heat. I'm no more a fan of the heat than you are.

Happy Father's Day all dads! Very relaxing weekend to officially start our summer and now I have a new workout partner (school is out, so Matt's off for the summer). 17-mile easy spin around the countryside. Met up with several friends, tons of cyclists out. I have a cool story to share, but I'll start a new thread so it's not missed!
