QR Wetsuits - kcwoodhead & Flip

I just bought the QR Superfull wetsuit. What do you guys do with that flap of material at the back of the collar? Tuck it in or leave it up against the back of your neck/head? What the heck is it, anyway?

i lay it flat against my neck, kind of under the other side, if that makes sense. i think it is supposed to help the zipper closure not rub as bad, but i haven't had the greatest luck yet.

whatever you do - bodyglide the **** out of your neck, and hopefully you will be lucky!

Congrats on getting a QR! I'm sure you'll love it.

The flap of material at the back is to help prevent the zip cord from getting in your way when you're swimming. I agree with the bodyglide on your neck - otherwise you might get a nasty rub.

I just leave mine against the back of my neck and haven't had any problems with it.

If you're swimming in salt water, it's possible that you'll just have to put up with it. Try more bodyglide for sure. If you can, then next time you have your wetsuit on, slip your fingers into the suit around your next and pull a bit. This should stretch the material just enough to make it a bit looser. I think a bit of rubbing is fairly normal, just like chaffing on a hot day when you're running, and saddle sores.

you can also try moleskin if you are still having problems. cut a piece bigger than you need, and curve the corners (a curved edge is less likely to come off than a cornered one...if that makes any sense). But of course, put that on before you body glide anything so it will stick.

Try using Aquaphor. It's a ointment. I have been using it for saddle sores and it works WAY better than bodyglide and Chamois Butter. It lasts much longer too. Haven't tried it the wetsuit yet though.

Hey petrarch. Actually, I find the Orca tighter around my neck than the QR. I suppose you could leave it a little undone, but you do risk coming unzipped. Body-glide like heck and definitely try to stretch the material a bit with your hands. Best of luck!
