Newb Introduction

Hello all,
I have been on Coolrunning for 3 months now. I finished C25K on June 3, and ran my first 5K yesterday. My 2 year goal is to finish in the top 20% of a one-day adventure race, by March of 2009, so this sounds like a good forum for me. Lurking in here, I read a little about Mini Triathlons. Sounds interesting and pretty challenging to me so I am going to train for one next year about this time. I have never been much of an athlete before so a year sounds about right.

TTYL,
Ed

Re: Newb Introduction
Welcome and congrats.

I also came to CR on a couch to 5k mission.
I have since run two marathons, as well as several other events, and just recently popped my Tri-cherry! (Am I allowed to say that?)

So, welcome and I am sure you will find everyone here most friendly and helpful.
David.

Wow, that looks like a lot of fun, and not that far from me. I've been thinking of going up to Castaic to try some lake swimming. Maybe I should pack the mountain bike, too!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome! Adventure racing sounds fabulous...if I wasn't spooked by the mountain bike section I would be all over it! Congrats on the 5K; it sounds like you want to progress in a reasonable time frame--I on the other hand jump head first into disaster (don't follow my lead!) Good luck on your endeavors.

Welcome Ed! I think you'll find that, like 5k's, triathlons are a lot less intimidating once you've done one. Heck, I'm a pro now - I've done 3!!!!!

Good luck with the training!

Re: Newb Introduction
Welcome, Ed!!! I started couch to 5K almost a year ago! Congrats on your 5K. You did it the right way. My first race was a HM (not recommended!) This year will be better, though. You can easily do a triathlon next year. It really isn't as bad as it sounds. A sprint tri is only a 5K run (you've got that down!), plus some cycling and swimming. It is a lot of fun. I've been looking at Adventure Races too. I'd like to do one with DH next year. There are tons of them here. I'd like to do a short one. We looked at Muddy Buddy too, which sounds like a ton of fun, but it is a little pricey. I'll have to watch your posts to see how your adventure training, etc... goes.
