Also, Harry Belefonte!

Spanish dance
(merengue, salsa -- try Spanish Harlem Orchestra)

And The STOOGES (Iggy Pop before he was Iggy Pop, is the long and short of it -- check out "Raw Power")

Other tunes on my playlist at the moment include

Jerk It Out - The Caesers
Two Receivers - Klaxons
Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt - We are Scientists

There's some good tunes for running on both the 2nd Killers' album, and the second Arcade Fire one (& AF are great live!).

My favourite golden oldie to run to is Nut Rocker by Bee Bumble and the Stingers - gives you a good lift when you're tired!

<HR>

I'llhave to go check these three out. I want to say i have heard the 1st and 3rd, but never the Klaxons.

If you haven't listened to trouble andrews (trevor andrews), check him out. half of his songs are pretty solid. He is a snowboarder that likes being a musician to.

Lit Up by Buckcherry. "I love the cocaine. I love the cocaine." Just good hard rock.

Most of the stuff that has been mentioned here I listen to on occasion. Usually, it is an audiobook. I'm listening to "Anansi Boys" by Neil Gaiman right now.

Re: favorite songs to run to
I assumed that I would find SOMEONE with my random tastes! Oh, well...maybe I'll spark an interest out there somewhere

Currently on my shuffle:

A Little Less Conversation - Elvis
Eminence Front - The Who
Theme from the Sopranos - A3
No More Drama - Mary J Blige
Tell Me Why - Will Smith
Single - Natasha Bedingfield (don't tell my husband)
A Little Bit More - Jamie Lidell

I forget what else, but that's pretty representative.

Re: favorite songs to run to
i like sorta angry or upbeat rock music to run to. i'm a huge fan of early 90s and late 60's.

just sort of "discovered" how good this song is: GO by Pearl Jam. the lyrics go like this "oh please don't go out on me, don't go on me now." i sing this part out loud to my achilles, knees, and shins while i'm on my long runs. even though i don't think that's what eddie vedder intended, it works for me.

i love "start me up" by the rolling stones as the first song in all of my running playlists.

there are so many great ones.

whoever said maximo Park ...
a sincere thank you. I took a bunch of suggestions and randomly added them to my mp3.
yesterday I was dying @ mile 2. then this band came on & reminded me of the violent fems (sp?). I liked it and blew through the last 3.
thanks again, this site rocks!
