6/17/07 - Moving Day

I'm all packed up, and going to get the truck in an hour. Time to live in Chicago!

Oh yeah, no running today, but lots of heavy lifting

Hey Nirvana - Hope you enjoy your new place if not the moving. Good cross training day.

5 recovery miles for me. Nice and easy. Felt a few places that "benefited" from yesterday's race but overall felt great.

Happy Father's day to those that are. Happy Sunday to everyone else.

Re: 6/17/07 - Moving Day
Hey all!

First, Happy Fathers Day to all our dads!!!!

Nirvana- good luck w/ the moving! Its such a fun, but stressful experience. Hope you can enjoy it

Vas- Glad you feel great after yesterday and that you had a nice recovery.

Well, I had a brutal run yesterday, that turned a bit scary at points. It was 22 miles point to point out in the mountains in Orange County, and, with our 92 degree weather, it got pretty bad. We were out of water 10 miles in w/ 12 to go. We ended up begging a couple bottles from some kind men in a jeep, and another bottle from a man in a hummer (which ended up giving us all individually maybe 12 ounces?) and then, what really saved us was going to this natural stream a quarter mile off the trail that had the BEST water ever. We were able to refill everything there and get rehydrated to make the last 5 miles down.

It got a little hairy out there though, especially just being that much in the middle of nowhere. Never had that experience before.

My body is sufficiently worked over today, so I'll be a rest one for me.

Have great days all!

Re: 6/17/07 - Moving Day
Hope there are no complications for ya Nirvy adn that you are out running again soon. Are we gonna get to see pics of the new place?

Addy - Congrats on yet another monstrous run. You have developed into an AMAZING runner. I can't wait to keep seeing what's next for you.

Well my legs are still super tight so I think I'll be doing lots of icing and other remedies to try and change that. If I'm feeling well I'll go out tomorrow.

Happy Father's Day!

Re: 6/17/07 - Moving Day
Addy--BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've gone through dehydration. It HURTS! Imagine every muscle in your body contracting. Now, think 10x the pain of that... Luckily, it wasn't hot that day so I wasn't over heating.

Started the morning with a bike ride. I knew it was gonna be a hot one so I started early. Since I was riding solo, I got to pick the route. Headed out the far side of the river and through my favorite little towns. Early on there was no wind. Then, out of no where, headwind. That hurt! Did an out-and-back. Had thought about stopping at an ice cream place on the way back in but it wasn't open yet so I just blew through. Did get stopped by lights in this town both times. No other traffic. Just stupid traffic lights... At m43 I stopped for water. Didn't want to stop because things were going so well, but it was hot and I was down to half a bottle and this was the only to get water. Short stop here, then continued on home. Got home, only to be greeted wtih "how come you're back so soon?" Gee... I feel loved......

66m, 4:17, 15.4mph

Home long enough to get something to eat and drink, then changed and headed up to the lake for a swim! Wasn't sure how much was still in the tank. Was hoping for 30min, anything more than that would be bonus. I'm just starting to switch over to breast stroke to get used to face in the water. I've been doing bouy to bouy, switching between the side and breast stroke. Today, things were flowing well, and I was able to do mostly breast stroke! Figure a few more weeks of this, then I'll switch over to ***gasp*** free style. 45mins.

We'll be taking hubby out for dinner in just a bit. He wants a big steak. Sounds good to me!

RFF- Congratulations!!! I don't remember what time you were shooting for, and if this time made your goal, but for anyone, I would think, that time is something to be so incredibly proud of. I really don't think that there are all that many people out there who could ever run at that speed. You're such an amazing athlete and we all have so much respect for you and this graet accomplishment

4boysmom - you rode what I was planning on riding today...but ended up with 56.4 on the day.. 35+ miles up to the bf's parents house for a BBQ, 20+ miles back (we got a ride partway b/c I couldn't do the whole 35 back).

90 degrees again.

Addy - you are amazing, just please be careful! I ran just 8 yesterday without water and almost passed out at the end...please, please, PLEASE be careful!

Nirvana - welcome to Chi-town

Everyone else, I hope you enjoyed your weekends!

It was a real struggle today. It was warm and my legs were flat after yesterdays stride outs effort.

When I got to mile 18.2 there were three climbs left for 1.7 miles. I had to walk part of the hills.

Disappointed at having to walk, but it was a hilly course and it was warm.
