Help--running Disney in two weeks and just got new shoes!!!

Hi,

I am running the Disney Marathon in a couple of weeks, and I have been training in my shoes since August. Well, I went out for my last long training run this weekend, and mid way through, I felt the pounding on my knees and feet, and I know when I start feeling like that, my shoes are shot. So I went into panic mode and bought new shoes (they are the same shoe I have been wearing, just a new pair). I was told that I could do some walking and a little running to try and break them in during the next two weeks. Whatta y'all think? Can it be done?

Thanks,
Aerobicmama

I WOULD WEAR THE SHOES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. IF YOU CANNOT WEAR THEM AT WORK, PUT THEM ON WHEN YOU GET HOME. TRY TO BREAK THEM IN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. WHAT CHOICE DO YOU HAVE? MY FRIEND & I ARE RUNNING THE GOOFY CHALLENGE, I AM A SLOW RUNNER SO I WILL BE IN THE 3RD WAVE. I AM HOPING TO RUN A 5:20 MARATHON. MY TWO FRIENDS AND I ARE HAVING A "GIRLIE" TRIP LEAVING SPOUSES AT HOME. WE ARE ALL IN OUR LATE 60'S AND BEGAN RUNNING THIS YEAR AFTER WALKING FOR FOUR YEARS.

GOOD LUCK AT WDW AND WITH YOUR NEW SHOES!!

No problem. The post above is correct. Just wear them around as much as possible, run in them the next couple of weeks, and you'll be fine.

Good luck - I've heard it's a great race
