Addy - Good to see you again!

Mailbox - I'm feeling lazy in exactly the same way!

Me - I did 9 miles at an avg 12:10 m/m pace. Slow, but no walking!

Cheers,
Billy

Re: Hump Day Wednesday 7-18
For those of you coming in late, this morning we were greeted with about ten or so threads for some online running store. Hence my 'spam' comment...

Nice runs all! Don't ya just love the heat and humidity?!

Alex--you are never too old to play in the sprinklers! I detoured slightly this morning to hit a nice set. Only problem was it only hit my lower half, then it looked like I had peed myself.........

I was also stuck with high humidity this morning. 4 miles before work, and hopefully 4 at lunch. No night workout tonight, I'm going to the Decemberists (+ orchestra) concert!

Re: Hump Day Wednesday 7-18
Many thanks to all who commented on the Garmin issue i brought up from the Peachtree race. I knew without a doubt that the course was accurate, obviously, but was curious for thoughts on why the Garmin was "off".....

My time from actual start to finish was 57:35....certainly not great but not embarassing either for a candy-loving, too many calorie, not enough mileage slow poke like me....next year, i'll surely challenge the 28:01 winning time...

interesting to read all of the humidity and heat = "poor" runs reports from today and yesterday....I've always known there was a correlation, of course, but it's apparently more pronounced than i imagined.....i'm certainly struggling with it some....

have a good one guys and thanks again on the garmin stuff....

Re: Hump Day Wednesday 7-18
Looks like everyone is getting some good runs in. I keep on meaning to post my runs for this week, but have completely forgot. If you guys don't mind, I'll do a quick recap:
Monday - warm up, strides, 4x1000m on the track with 3 minutes rest in between. Intervals were 3:45, 3:46, 3:48, 3:19. Cool down afterwards. Felt great, especially with that last 1000m.

Tuesday - easy 7.3km or so in about 37 minutes. I was actually pretty tired/sore/weak from lack of breakfast as well as last night's workout. I guess I didn't stretch enough.

Today - warm up, strides, then 8x400m with 90 seconds recovery. Felt really clunky at first, but gradually loosened up. Splits were (in seconds) 72 (oops, bit too fast), 78,79,78,79,79,78,74. Felt exhausted afterwards, but still managed to cool down. It's so hot out right now... a nice cold shower will do me some good.
Good runs to all!

Re: Hump Day Wednesday 7-18
good afternoon everyone,

I haven't posted here in a week or so, but I have still been getting out there. I'm still sticking mostly to the road bike and only running ocassionally.

this morning I did a quick 15.5 miles on the bike in 50 minutes (18.4 mph avg).. I pushed it because it looked like the skies were about to open up on me.. nothing worse than being stuck on your bike in heavy rain! as it turns out, I probably could have gone another 15 without a problem, but at least I got out there.

this afternoon I was in the gym at work and ran into a group that meets there are noon every day to go out for a run.. I think we only went for 3.5 or so, but it was good to get out there. now that I know this group meets, I think I might go more often!

great work to everyone, especially those dealing with all the heat / humidity!

have a good afternoon,

Jim

I got the 4 in over lunch - sweating like a beast. Easy pace wasn't so easy today.

Re: Hump Day Wednesday 7-18
Add a swim for me. Skipped dinner to head to the lake. Beach pretty much deserted and the couple lap swimmers left as soon as I got there. THe first 25mins went, well, swimmingly. Still doing drills to get technique down. For the last 5mins I decided to see what I could do. Form good. Sighting bouy. Hey--everything was falling into place! Except... the bouy I was sighting was the third set. That totally rattled me, so quickly did breast stroke on in. Scary, scary, scary.........

Re: Hump Day Wednesday 7-18
Got in a rough 8.5 mile run today at the peak of the
heat (stupid idea). Sweating like a pig, I got it done.
I can't believe I made it through. I thought I was
going to pass out the entire way.

Time to rest.

HOME 15.2 MILE LOOP[/URL" target="_blank"> WITH LAST MILE CUT OFF.

Plan tonight was 14 miles of medium-long run. I was going to do it on the trail and repeat the hilly part. However the weather did not cooperate.

So instead I did it on pavement.

The legs were a bit tired after the VO2max effort last night, but I will take comfort in the fact that my last full mile was actually my fastest mile of the night.

Rest day here.
Two many of my recent runs have been of low quality; hence, we try this.
From the sound of it, it seems I picked a pretty good day to sit out...

Good runs, all
