Thursday, July 26

Four miles on the mill this morning, with two 1.5 mile LT intervals. I'm figuring between 8:34/8:55 for my LT/Half pace. It was tempting to go faster for those pieces, but the purpose of them is to adapt lactate threshold and work with it, so I held back. I'm following a Pfitz half plan.

Good ones, all.

Heading out for my run in a few.

Ellen - Good going. Were the kids asleep?

Re: Thursday, July 26
Good day all.

Ellen - Nice job this morning and no interuptions.

Tonya - Hope you have a good day at work and have the energy to run afterwards.

Dan - Have a great run.

Me - I did 11 this morning at 7:50 pace. In fact I ran all 11 miles between 7:46 & 7:50. I think that is the closest splits I have had for such a long run.

Happy running all.

Re: Thursday, July 26
There's a huge thunderstorm sitting right over us, so I'm waiting for it to clear just a bit before heading out. Funny, just checked the hour-by-hour forcast and there's only a 16% chance of rain. Somebody needs to be lookin' out the window!!!

I got son and I registered for the race on Saturday. I am so not motivated to do it. I haven't really been able to train for it so I know I won't do well, so wondering why I'm even bothering.

Re: Thursday, July 26
Ellen- Don't know anything about the Pfitz plan for the half, but if it's anything like the plan fo rhte full, you're definitely right about your pace on the up-tempo stuff.

Tonya- enjoy the first day, and the run.

Dave- great consistency over that distance. I pace most of my runs with my Garmin, and I rarely hit splits that regularly.

For me- yesterdays run was really good, I kind of don't understand it. I knew that I wasn't feeling incredibly sore from my 800 intervals workout Tuesday, but I figured I'd be at least a little slow. Went out for 11, and it was dark out before I started so I took my GPS, but didn't really look at it much during the run. I went out how I felt, which apparently was a lot faster than it felt.

Finished up in 7:28 mpm and don't feel any fatigue today. I'm really not supposed to be doing these general aerobic runs any faster than 7:50 pace or so, but I'm not complaining.

Re: Thursday, July 26
FIRST BIKE COMMUTE IN OVER A MONTH!

WOO-HOO

Yup, the bf fixed my bike while I was out of town this past weekend so I rode in this morning. I was awake to run at 5 but it was storming, kind of. I woke up at 5 to a loud clap of thunder, waited a few minutes and it thundered again, so I went back to bed.

At 6:45 when I left for work (via bike) there was some lightning off in the distance but far enough out that there was no thunder that I could hear. So I rode.

Plan on riding home and then running 4-5 or so...but not going to push it (see my post from yesterday).

Ellen nice job this morning
Tonya good luck today!
vash hope you had a nice run
Boyerdave wow, 11 miles already this morning, geez!
4boys I hear you about storms and weather people! Have fun at the race this weekend, so what if you didn't train, just have fun!
Mailbox Head 11 is the magic number today it looks like. I don't know how you're able to do that after running last night. I try to do the night & morning run, but have a really hard time with it.

Anyway, have a great day gang!

Re: Thursday, July 26
Nice running today. I am thinking that I might get in 5 miles later today. Hopefully the thunderstorms will move in later this afternoon and cool things off so I can get in a run around 4-5 p.m. It works so much better that way and I don't have to wait all day to go running. Have a great day everyone.

Re: Thursday, July 26
Later on that very same morning...

8 miles with 30 minutes at tempo pace. Very good run. Maybe it was having the same shoes on both feet.

Dave - Great splits. All your very hard work must be paying off.

4boys - It's a bummer when you get the full 16 % chance of rain. Hope it passes quickly.

mailbox - the lack of fatigue can only be a good sigh eh?

flobear - Yea! on getting the bike together and getting back to your commuting.

kfuller - Hope your run goes well later.

Re: Thursday, July 26
Hey everyone,

Quick post today...CUZ IT'S VACATION TIME! Gone for the next 9 days! I'll be running in northern Washington about 5 miles from the Canadian border...can't wait...a boat, close family, and 9 days of ZERO plans! Ahhhhhh....

Here's a modest picture of my home for the next 9 days:

Ran 5 miles at marathon pace today (target: 9:00; actual: 8:53)

There's no internet access while I'm on vacation (not even cell phone service!) so I'll post sometime next weekend. Enjoy your runs!

Re: Thursday, July 26
Dan--I've been wearing the same shoes forever. I have about a gazillion pairs in the closet. I've taken to labeling the tongue (A, B, C, etc...) to be sure I have a true pair...

I finally got out there and had The Best Run!!! It was supposed to be a z2 run, but it seemed stuck right at z3.0. Considering HR was slightly elevated at the start, I just went with it. Run just felt smooth and steady. My only concern is that I left the best miles in training and will have nothing left for the race on Saturday...

5.58m, 49:29, 8:52pace
(6:36), 8:50, 9:02, 9:10, 8:57, (6:53)

Now, can y'all explain this... My route is basically a horse shoe. (6:36) is getting to the end of the HS. 8:50, 9:02 are to the turn around. 9:10, 8:57 are to the other end. I've been running this route for 3years now. For the life of me, that 3rd mile is always the slowest. No matter how hard I push it, it's always the slowest. Could it be that it is the 'outside' of the curve and is actually that much longer?

The sun has now come out and it is terribly HUMID! I think I'm going to shower then head up to the beach. Only two more weeks of summer break left, figure I might as well make the most of it!

Re: Thursday, July 26
Some great running today, folks. I'm afraid I can add to it only in number.

Very poor run today. A pathetic, gallow-walking crawl that covered five miles. Felt bloated most of the way. The first two miles it seemed like my heart was racing ahead of my body so I slowed to a walk. Fortunately that element went away.

Five miles officially, but probably only ran 4.3 of it.

I wish I could bike to work (12 miles each way), but there is no shower here.
Brian, that looks like a helluva vacation spot.

Good runs, all
