July totals

Well, as it's the last day of July, and I'm done with my runs for the day...I'll start the thread.

Running - 114.9 (woohoo, back above 100!)

Biking - 11.6 (just got the bike back in working condition last week, so happy with that...though I could add about 5 miles to it from a quick ride up for bagels on Sunday, I'll leave it there.)

I know they are going to be some amazing distances this month, just going to sit back and watch as they pour in.

Re: July totals
I'm not done for today, but I know what I'm going to do
tonight and I can pretty well predict how much it's going
to add.

Running - 232.1
Elliptical - 231.3

I'm doing the elliptical tonight for an hour, so I'm predicting
that will add 12 miles, give or take a couple of tenths of
a mile, based on prior experience.

Not a bad month. But I AM training for a marathon, so
that's reason for the higher mileage.

Re: July totals
I ran 124.19 miles this month, putting me up to exactly 631 miles for the year.

For what it may be worth, 31.5 miles on the stationary bike, 75.5 for the year.

Cheers,
Billy

Running - 159.69

Was on vacation for the first week of the month and only ran 8 miles. Aiming for 220-240 next month. Ramping up the mileage for Fall marathons.

Re: July totals
tonya, that's an awesome 5K PR but your 5-mile and 10K PRs seem off in comparison (mcmillan predicts a 31:39 5-mile and a 39:41 10K from your 5K time). my recent 5K time is 19:46 but my 5-mile time is 33:24.

regardless, you would be racing for 1st woman in most of the races around here...

Re: July totals
Wow Tonya - Cranking the eliptical - Generally how much time does it take to do 1 mile on eliptical - I used to do a lot on the eliptical but just counted 8 minutes at a good effort as equivelent to 1 mile running.

I think your body can handle so much more stress with eliptical cross training -

Nice months everyone - I may go for more punishment tonight - so too early to post.

Re: July totals
joev9 I don't know what is going on with my PR's, in the case of what they are or should be. I just run them and try
to win. And I have, in most cases. I think I can count on one hand how many races I've actually run and haven't placed first in my age group or gotten first female.

As far as the two places I've lived--Amarillo, TX, and now
here in Omaha, NE--I haven't really had any real competition
except for 16 and 17 year old cross country runners.
Even in that 10K I just ran, (my first 10K, by the way), I came
in first female, but the second place girl was 17.

I don't know what's up with my running. I just do it.

Run4Fun I usually average somewhere around
5:30 minute miles on the elliptical. I know it's fast, and most of the time people at the gym ask me how I go so fast, but
I do it with ease because my endurance is built up really
well from long distance running. Some days it's not so
fun, others it's a breeze.

You guys are very encouraging.

Re: July totals
119.78. I didn't realize i was so close to 120 or I would have done the extra .25 this morning. Hey maybe I can do it tonight.

Longest run was 14 miles (also my longest ever). Hope to do a 16-17 miler in Aug.

Did two PRs this month in the 5K (on the TM) so that was pretty good for me.

Hi all,

Great job folks!

If it wasn't for a couple of bonks, I would have made it to 300 miles. But alas, it didn't happen.

Complete as always, EQ.

For me....
July: 142.5 on 25 runs (5.70)
YTD: 993.5 (could count up the runs except I don't care... the average miles per workout is probably about the same)

Another 31-day month ahead. Hope for 175 at least.

Re: July totals
July was a decent month. I'm disappointed that I fell almost 30 miles short of goal though. Missed 2 days due to injury, and a couple other runs were cut short for various reasons. Still, this is my second highest mileage month ever, just 5 short of a PR.

265.0 miles
Time: 1 day, 10h 33m 24s
Avg. Pace: 7:49/mile

For the year:

1575.3 miles
Time: 8 days, 13h 07m 26s
Avg. Pace: 7:51/mile

I had a couple decent long runs (18 and 16.5).

I ran one tough 5k race in 18:11 (17 seconds off PR). My third fastest 5k ever (of 19 races lifetime).

This week is a recovery week - I'm looking forward to a good August after that.
