Friday August 17

Good Morning Everyone

Happy Friday. No Run for me today but a core workout later this afternoon.
So are we just assuming that this forum will disintegrate with the Active.com change over or is it possible that they'll continue a forum with a new format?

Man, I need you guys to get through my Oct. marathon!!!

Hope everyone has a great run, rest, ride, swim etc.

Re: Friday August 17
Dan--I agree! I'm glad I have y'all to share my running. My husband doesn't care. My home schooling friends don't get it. Where else can I share the joys and sorrows of running?!

No run day for me. I so needed to sleep in this morning! I'll head up to the lake this afternoon for a swim. Kinda funny--since I've done a couple bike/swim/bike bricks, just swimming isn't satisfying anymore...

Re: Friday August 17
Dan---From a post I read on the Active.com forum it seems that they want to try to take everything over as it is. I think they are trying to keep things together as much as possible. Just check out Atcive.com for any information on this situation.

No running for me today. 5 miler tomorrow. Have a great day.

From a post I read on cool running it seems that all the training log stuff will receive an upgrade and be accessed through active.com. From the information received it seems that the forums will be here still, but they are just combining the efforts of cool runnning and Active to moderate and take care of the websites. That is my interpretation of the information that was given about the transition.

4 easy this morning at 9:39 pace......hot and humid at 6:30 in the morning....this may sound "weak", but tomorrow, i should hit 27 miles for the week, a mileage pr for me....some soreness from the increase but nothing too bad....have to stick with it if i ever expect to improve i suppose....

Enjoy the oppressive heat everyone.....

Re: Friday August 17
Good morning everyone. I see the forum is alive and well for another day.

I'm kind of in limbo on today's workout. It's supposed to be spin day at the gym, but after packing my bag this morning I stupidly left the house without reloading my wallet, which now has only $4 in it, and it costs $7 for me to use the George Mason facility. I don't have even have an ATM card, only my wife does; for some reason mine still hasn't come in the mail. So I need to figure out Plan B. I may just do an easy run at lunchtime since I have gear with me already. Oh well, I screwed up -- not the first or last time.

Long run tomorrow -- 18 planned. I had 17 planned for last week and nearly did 18 so this should be no problem. I'm breaking in my new training shoes today, wearing them around the office. After doing 7 in my old Air Max Motos last night I decided it's REALLY time to retire them. So in it is with the new Air Max 90s tomorrow for 18!

Brown - you're the only runner of the day so far...nice going. I'm sure you'll have company soon, though.

Tonya - I'd love to run the IU Mini with you, but Nirvana's right, lay low and get ready for your marathon. I know you've been targeting it all year and will surely be locked in for it that by then. Thanks for thinking of me though.

As for that race, I'm still thinking hard about it.

Have a great Friday all.

hey everyone,

brown-- nice run and congrats on the mileage pr!

hawk -- good luck with the workout, whatever you decide to do. I'd just take it easy with that long run coming up tomorrow

I got in a good ride with the girlfriend today.. 40 miles in 2:30 (avg 16.0 mph)... I'm going to head out for a quick run when I get home to round out my running mileage for the week..

have a good day everyone,

Jim

Re: Friday August 17
4boysmom[ - I'm not going anywhere. I'd dearly love to meet one of my imaginary friends, too! I'll be here 1) so long as I can figure out where here is and 2) so long as here is not too aggravating.

I did 8 miles this morning. I was kind of hoping for rain; saw a lot of it on the mountains to the east, but not so much down here in the valley. Real picture perfect sunrise, with all the Santa Fe colors of very light blue, light pink, and dark purple, and white, and some rainbow sherbert on the side, too. Went by feel, stayed around 11:45 m/m which I think is in my Easy range so I was pretty happy.

Cheers,
Billy

Re: Friday August 17
Seems like a pretty easygoing day for all around here...
Nice to see that everyone takes a break every once in a
while, haha.

I need to take a break, probably; I'm supposed to run 24
tomorrow or Sunday. However, I will most likely do the elliptical
today with my husband, plus run my typical 8 mile route.

Tonight is date night at my house--my husband and I are going
for mexican food and a movie later. Last Friday it was Olive Garden
and "Becoming Jane." I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jane Austen. I have
a master's degree in English, after all. Don't tell him I told you, but
he said HE even liked that movie. I'm not one for chick flicks, at all,
but that movie was great. This time I think we are going to see
"The Last Legion."

So, everyone (most everyone) have a good day of rest!! You all
deserve it. I'm going to get my rest this evening.

For the longest time, Billy, I thought you were from Vermont ? the VLT action after your name must have distracted me. I see I'm about 2,500 miles off.

Nine miles for me today, steady and slow. Sort of (but not quite) makes up for a blown-off workout yesterday.

Fall is coming, folks.

Four miles for me pushing the baby this morning. Very humid and drippy.

I'm hesitating a little on my half this fall, but maybe I"ll hold out making that decision until we get some cooler weather. I may just be responding to all this heat.

I won't comment on the potential for these forums to disintegrate. I'm already weepy from listening to sad songs this morning.

good ones, all.

4 recovery miles over lunch. After a hard speed workout last night, this was niiiiiiice and easy. 75 degrees and low humidity - perfect.

Lemme guess.....

"over lunch" meant running while actually eating a turkey sandwich on wheat with no mayo....no pizza this time...

Lemme guess, part II.....

that easy pace was avg 7:51 a mile?

I had to go out and kill my food before I could eat it. The first 2 miles were an "easy" pace while I stalked the goose. After finally capturing and killing it, I spent the final 2 miles at "recovery" pace while I ate.

I saw boyerdavea while I was running. He was actually swimming this time. There was a broken down oil rig in the nearby lake. He was pulling it to safety. The current was strong but he made it. Afterwards he dragged the ship 2.75 miles across the sand and set a ship-pulling PR by 4 minutes.

Edited to add: I also saw Tonya out there. She was in the middle of a 32 mile run, and was running at a comfortable 7:35 pace, all after having put in 42 miles on the elliptical.

.....And then EQ came in and talked about how he's the worst runner in the world.

I kid, I kid, I love you all!

Re: Friday August 17
This place is full of comedians these days sheesh....

Easy practice running the course with the guys at 2:00 running segments, felt nice to have people to talk with during the run, plus I'm a bit tired and need to rest up for tomorrow's woodland half marathon plus some. I get to head out early and I believe my loop is about 13.5-14 miles. Should be amazing though with like 60 degree weather. I'm very excited...

Nice work all.
