Saturday 8/18

Good morning all. I was able to get in a 20 miler this morning and didn't have to get up at 1 AM. This morning was a 4 AM start. 20 miles in 2:32. It felt pretty good.

Mile 1 & 20 were 8:30 pace
Miles 2 - 14 were 7:45-7:50 pace
Miles 15 - 19 were at 6:50 pace

6:55 is my target pace for my next goal marathon (Richmond, VA) So I am beginning to work in MP during the end of my long runs.

Hope everyone has a great run/race today.

Happy running all.

Dave---That is a killer pace for such a long run. I believe that you will be on your target pace for the marathon. Keep up the good work.

5 mile run today. Actually 5.031 with 1 mil warm up at 9:52 and then the rest of the miles for 47:15. Under 9 minute pace for the last 4 and a mid 7 min pace for mile 5. It felt good and now I am ready to crank the intensity back up next week. Have a great day everyone.

Dave--show off.........

I had a FANTABULOUS run this morning!!! Group run. I started out just ahead of the 9:00pace group. Dropped them at the 3m water stop. I stopped at the 5.5m water and did a Gu and water. I love chocolate, but chocolate Gu just doesn't do it for me. {{Where's the puking smace???}} Passed our start, then out to "Jeff's green trash can" (eyates knows where that is!) and back. Had to circle the parking lot a bit to finish it out.

10.00m (exact), 1:27:00 (exact), 8:42pace

This was ALL in HR zone 2. MP is 8:45. What the heck did I do?!

This afternoon I'll do an ice cream ride with sons 2 and 3 in just a bit. We're doing an organized ride the weekend after Labor Day. These guys haven't done any riding all summer...

Good morning folks...

Dave - great workout. 15-19th at 6:50? Very strong.

kfuller - coming along great. must feel good.

4boys awesome effort out there this morning. Strongest run in a while.

6 easy miles for me this morning with 6 post run strides. That avg. pace per lap setting on the garmin has really helped me run more consistently. Fun run. Only one problem...I did it AGAIN!!! I'll give you a hint. It has to do with shoes!

6 strides post run.

Little cut back week with only 16 tomorrow.

Re: Saturday 8/18
good afternoon all,

Dave -- great job on the 20 miler.. I'm also glad you were able to 'sleep in' until 4am.. you so crazy

4boys -- nice work on the 10 miler... sounds like you're getting in pretty kick a$$ shape.. any marathons coming up in the fall for you?

I had a nice easy 30 mile bike ride today with the girlfriend.. just had fun with it, although the wind was so strong it was almost blowing me off my bike.. tomorrow will be a long run hopefully around 10 miles. have a great saturday all,

Jim

Dan, Dan, Dan... tell me you didn't... How long did it take for you to notice? Anyone else notice?

JRob--Thank you! With all this tri training, I am feeling quite good these days! My fall schedule: 8/26 HM, 9/2 5K, 9/9 century bike tour, 9/23 sprint tri. 12/2 (I think) is Tucson Marathon. Sorta was relieved when mom said she wasn't sure if she would be up for me visiting then. But, now she's excited about it, telling her doctors that she HAS to be up for it. I figure if she can fight cancer, I can put up with 4+hours of misery... Who knows--it could be my BQ...

Yep, and it took me six miles, six strides, and stretching to notice. Ok, from now on I put all my stuff out at night. I'm a silly boy!

You really are what you eat, and that's why my run today was ****. Other than the standard bowl of Wheaties this morning and a glass of OJ, I have eaten nothing but **** in the last 24 hours. Too much to drink at a work party last night, a late-night trip to Burger King afterward. Lunch today was a hot dog, Fritos and a Coke.
It's probably worse than putting sugar in your gas tank.
Five miles, slow, with three walk breaks as my racing heart asked me what the **** I was doing.
A waste of a glorious day.
Try again tomorrow.

Good runs, all

Dan--you are too funny!!!!!!!!!!!!

Baba--one of my very best runs was the day after the State Fair. You know, spending the entire day eating fair food... I'm heading out for grocery shopping. A trip through McD's drive through sounds pretty good...

Bike ride this afternoon with son #2. 32 slow, painfully slow miles... Average pace as 10mph. Tomorrow will be a long ride with son #1. Hoping for at least a 15mph pace. I really can't ride slow.......

Plan tonight called for a 8-15K dress rehearsal race.

I did not find a race of that distance locally, so I opted for an individual time trial style run.

I was only going to do 9 like I did the last time, but as I neared the end I noticed I had a shot at the 10 mile PR, so I went for it.

NEW 10 MILE PR TONIGHT. Previous best was 1:12:52.0 run over the same course. And that was done without my CamelBak. Tonight I was wearing the CamelBak, and I know that the Camelbak slows me down a little bit.

Re: Saturday 8/18
Amazing long runs out there guys...I had my distance PR this morning on my 14 miler. 7:46 pace, legs getting tight behind the knees around 8-9 and then middle of my back got really tight, felt like it needed to be cracked for the last 5 miles or so. Legs still tired...tomorrow is a COMPLETE rest day, I had 41.4 miles this week which is a lot, but even more considering a lot of it was faster running...I think I may cut back a little next week, at least a few miles, I'll talk to Coach about it tonight.

Oh my goodness, I almost forgot that it's actually been chilly today, but in the morning it was 60s...perfect weather! Ever since we finished it's been drizzling thugh and in the mid-50s.

Re: Saturday 8/18
Long run day for me, too. Dave and Tonya put me to shame with their performances however. My legs were just dead today and I had to bull my way throught it.

18.4 miles total.

First 15.3 on my own in 2:13 (8:42/mile).

Picked up the wife at the house to do 5k more at her pace. Glad to see her running is starting to improve; only took 2 very short walk breaks.

Great jobs out there. Have a great evening.
