Ellen, that five-miler might be a better possibility. I've only got one semi-recent long run (15) so and 18.6-miler in less than a month might not be too pretty.

I'm sure that running machine from Wilmington, EQ, is more than ready to toe the line, however.

Good runs, all

Aren't you training for a fall marathon? C'mon.

Edited to add: I'm really, honestly nowhere near ready to be racing a 30K. I started the Pfitz 12 week compressed training schedule this week. I suffered greatly on a humid 10.5 miler this weekend, but the schedule has me scheduled for a 16 the weekend of the 30K, so I may as well do it.

Re: Tuesday 8/28/07
Hi all!

Great efforts out there today folks! Keep up the awesome work!

Alex - Good luck/hope you had a good meet!

ellenshana - When is the 5 miler in Nahant? I am thinking about Bay State on October 14th if my poor legs recover well from the Equinox on September 15th. I'm also considering doing my hometown HM on September 30th as a supported long training run (ie, I don't plan to run it as a race...too soon after the Equinox and too close to Bay State).

Everyone - Awesome job today!

As for me:

Re: Tuesday 8/28/07
Finally got in my workout! Actually, it was planned for the evening...

Bike--bike path. Very crowded with runners, walkers and bikes. Good to see, but couldn't go all out because of it. 17.74m, 1:07. Speed unknown because some idjet had the garmin set to run...

Run--just enough time to stuff bike in van and change shoes. Practice for my tri. Legs were dead. Still not recovered from the race on Sunday. And we kinda hit the bike pretty hard... 4.21m, 33:30, 7:57pace. Lap times of 8:13, 8:27, 8:27, 8:22. Thinking garmin pace is being generous again...

Re: Tuesday 8/28/07
I'm ****** that everyone here lives in Mass. Where did I lose out on
that end of the deal?

Anyway, the elliptical machine SUCKED today. I hate it. Who
made those things.

Running, on the other hand--WOW. A couple of days ago
Nirvana said something about what a day off does for
a person. Absol-U-tely the truth.

As I mentioned earlier today, I was nervous
about running tonight because my legs were still a little sore
from Saturday's race. Ewwwwweeeeeeee not anymore!
They were raring to go! I ran those anticipated 8.21 miles
in 65 minutes at an eassssssy 7.53 pace, and could have run
more, but I decided to save it for my 20 miler coming up in a few
days. I just popped a little Coldplay on the iPod, and off I went.

Before this run tonight I was really concerned about my legs.
They were aching in an odd place inside, someplace I had not
yet felt such pain. I was VERY worried that I might not get to run as much as I need to this week. And I was even thinking that maybe I shouldn't run that 5K on Labor Day. Man, that's over. I didn't even
feel it on my run. It was just an afterthought. Now I'm actually
looking forward to that 20 miler!

Anyway, sorry I'm so weird.

I wonder how Alex fared on his race...

Let me check with the ouija board and get back to you in tomorrow's thread.

Oh no wait! There's a magic 8 ball here at the bottom of the toy box, where I found my car keys last night after several hours...Magic 8 Ball says

****, I can't see, where are my glasses?

oh wait, I can see it now

it says

.

.

.

Tonya's training is hot stuff. Tell her to remember to respect the distance, and when she gets to 20 miles, not to cry, but to get that determined look on her face, and punch out the last 6.2 miles, picking people off as she goes. Boston is waiting for her.

Oh and "Try Again Tomorrow."

Re: Tuesday 8/28/07
Nice running everyone. Walking out of the bathroom today I stubbed my left foot small toe against the door frame and it hurt. Still feels sore and some pain but not anything to keep me from running. Just annoying more than anything. I hope Alex had a great race. Have a great evening everyone.

Hopefully that Magic 8 Ball isn't broken, Ellen, and thank you
for the encouragement and advice. I'll check back here again
tomorrow. I wonder if the future will still look as bright?

Hey, what about us West Coasters? Thought you wanted to be in Seattle

By the way, the magic 8 Ball and Ouija board work differently when the ocean is on the other side!

Yabut...

Tonya is dead center in Nebraska. She balances it all off.
