Okay; I just posted this on the wrong day. Duh me. Today was really my first chance to run outside for any extended period since my wife and I had our first baby at the end August. I wound up going 3-3/4 miles at a 9:27 pace. I'll have to make sure I ease back into things here, since it's been a while . . .

I loved Cal, Jr as a player...just admired his grit, you name it....but when teams win 19 out of 20, 14 out of 15, that kind of thing, which is never basically, then i tend to ride that horse until it breaks a leg.....if arizona knocks 'em out, okay, but i want proof before i'm betting against the rockies....

Re: Friday 10/12/07
ahhh...day off today. Didn't set the alarm and woke up at 10:00!!! It's like I'm in high school all over again! No running today, but I thought I'd stop by and reply. A couple cool things coming up for me though:

1. Adidas headquarters is here in Portland and yesterday I got selected to be a test runner with some of their gear in a couple weeks - so that's cool - and I get some free stuff for doing it.

2. Tomorrow there is a run with dogs for adoption. You go to a certain park, pick a dog to jog with, jog 5 miles with it, and then you have the option to adopt it. I'm excited - I'm going to do it - we'll see if I get a dog!

Ok, onto replies:

EQ sounds like a fun evening - enjoy!

4boys you need to write a book on how to raise FOUR BOYS and using biking, jogging, and swimming to spend time with them. It would sell!

brown enjoy the family reunion...hopefully it's not one of those dreaded types!

rob enjoy the rest - no more stress!

Alex great race - way to push it! I even logged on late last night just to see if you had posted...and there it was! good job!

kfuller I'm rooting for the Rockies and Red Sox...as a Mariners fan I don't have much to look forward to...I heard the Rockies were about the classiest group of guys in the majors...they get my vote!

vashon boy am I out of it...where are you going? Regardless - I look forward to hearing about the race!!! UPDATE...ahhh Long Beach (thanks Apple). GO FOR IT!

tonya holy smokes - when I read your report yesterday, I had to show someone, so I showed my wife and I was like "that's crazy!" Eliptical that far AND jogging that far on a routine Thursday! WOW! So...anyways - you're inspirational!

Apple I never get sick either...what a blessing!

CMJ enjoy the race...pretty busy weekend, but at least it's busy doing quality things like runs and soccer! Enjoy!

Addy wow...sorry if I'm continually inspired, but I still remember you training for your first marathon and now you're killing 50 milers...AMAZING! Go for it! I have no doubt that you'll have a great time, regardless of time - you always do!

showalih welcome back, and congrats on being a dad! I can't wait for that day for me!

Everyone else...have great runs!!!

Re: Friday 10/12/07
Hey Everyone, How's it going?

Alex- Great run, you are fast...man...

Racers- Good luck. I hope everyone meets their goals. I am running in a 3 miler on Sunday while Tonya runs her 10...

Today I was scheduled to do my first "long run" since I started running again. I was only going to do 4 miles, and my goal was around 11:30/ml... I haven't run that far in about 4 or 5 months...

I ended up doing 4.30 miles, in 47:22, which is 11:01 pace. I am so excited I ran that far with no issues, I did not even have to slow down or walk...It was great.

I hope everyone else has a great day. Tomorrow is an off day for me, but I will check on Race reports.

I wish they made Strawberry flavored Orange colored Popsicles...I just thought of that while I was running...

Re: Friday 10/12/07
6+ at a 9:05 pace, great for me...but MAJOR problem...my left leg is getting worse when I run I don't know what's wrong. It bothers me in my sleep & when I run...not really when I ride or any other time...and after a run it's really bad for 10-30 minutes, then fine again.

My doctor last week told me to take Ibprofen, which I have been doing, just not consistently.

The pain seems to be way up in my hip area. Sometimes the focus is the outside of the leg, sometimes inner (groin area). And sometimes my entire leg just screams in pain.

Does anyone know what I'm referring to? Any suggestions? Any help? I have a 5k next weekend that I AM running...I could take the week off of running but want to get some cardio in so going to try cycling & elliptical...but any thoughts? Please?

Re: Friday 10/12/07
Five miles yesterday, but forgot to post. Had broccoli pizza last night and it didn't sit well, so no run this morning.
However, I have set up my work week such that it will be feasible for me to run after work and still get home at a reasonable hour.
That works.
I'll report later, just to pad the board.

Good luck, racers. Lots of biggies this weekend.

Good runs, all

Re: Friday 10/12/07
Instead of running I played about 45 minutes of basketball over my lunch break. Just shooting around, not a major workout.

Running after work.

Awesome job Alex! You're giving me some goals for my next racing year

Re: Friday 10/12/07
Hey y'all. some fine work out there today.

Best of luck to all of our racers this weekend. I can't wait!

Sh, congratulations on the new baby. There are a few of us on this thread with wee ones.

Five miles for me today on the treadmill. I did the first three at around a 9:00 pace, the fourth at an 8:00, and the fifth at a 7:30. The baby was napping and it was windy so I chose the mill instead of pushing the jogger into the wind.

Seven tomorrow, ten Sunday. (For real this time).

1.5-mile warmup....
4x400 w/400 cooldown...
0.5 warmdown...
Total of 4 miles

Did this at a high school track on the way home from work. I used to change in the car all the time, but I am clearly out of practice. I was on my third lap when I realized I had put my shorts on backwards.

Good runs, all
