is that a "Snapping hip"?

At the age of 30, I just started jogging a couple of weeks ago to exercise more. Two days ago, after about 2 miles, I feel my left hip joint is different when I move my thigh up and down. If I put my hand on the joint, I can fell a ligament move over the big joint as I lift my thigh up and down. So far it only causes a little bit pain and it does not stop me from running. But it still keeps me thinking about whether it should be a concern. Any suggestions? Should I stop jogging and go see a doctor?

Re: is that a "Snapping hip"?
I have the same symptoms, only I've been running for 20 years and mine starts getting stiff at about 40 minutes and gets progressively worse until my right leg completely breaks down at about 10-11 miles or 1:25. I have a appointment with a sports medicine/surgeon on Oct. 2. As I run the pain progresses in intensity and in area (it moves down the leg)until the leg won't function. Running faster makes the pain progress faster but running slower does delay the pain.

Hi,
I feel that what you are describing is IT band snap syndrome. I have seen the doctor for it a couple of times myself. Is the snapping occuring where your femur connects to your pelvis?
If it is ITBSS, my doctor basically said that I just had to stretch it many times a day, and the snapping it just a result of it being too tight. I know you can research different types of stretches for the IT band on the internet. I hope that helps!

It is also called IT band friction syndrome. Perhaps that may help if u decide to research a bit. :)

Went to Doctor (sports medicine/ortho surgeon) he said hip flexor bursa was very swollen and shot it up with a cortisone type of medicine. Tendon probably rubbing on bone and gets more inflamed as I run longer. Probably just a overuse injury but had MRI to make sure that it is not something more serious, don't know the results yet. Shot on Monday he said run on Thursday if the pain is more than minor then stop and walk.
