A week off too long?

Hi all,

Due to an ITB flare up I'm thinking about taking a week off from this schedule...

...from Saturday 6/2 - Thursday 6/7.

You'll notice it happens to be a recovery week anyways.

I'd like to know what you all think. I know I don't have to follow this to the mile but is it ok to take a week off and then just jump back into my schedule? Should I just run the miles easier? Should I do some light cross training instead? Any advice is welcome.

Thanks,
-Nic

A recovery week is well deserved buddy. If you decide to cross train go easy and enjoy the change. Search this website for ITB articles.

In the long term, taking extra recovery time anytime you need it is a good thing. You have to simply ask yourself what you'd prefer time to recover, reduce inflamation, repair, adapt etc., or another week creating stress on your body, potentially making things worse.

Unless you're on a serious timetable, with serious objectives and willing to chance injury, take the rest.
