Re: Treadmills
I have a Precor 9.33 and it is a great treadmill. I bought it used through craigslist from an older couple who had only used it lightly for a year. I also used http://www.treadmilldoctor.com[/URL" target="_blank"> when I was researching treadmills.

Re: Treadmills
treadmilldoctor.com is the place to go. I bought a Sole F85 and like it a lot. Great service. Folding was a good feature because I am the only one in the house strong enough to move it. It has a sturdy frame and works well for regular training (I put it through 35 MPW). For a similar price, the Lifefitness T30 looks like a winner. If you are not training longer distances, some other options look good at lower prices: EPIC 425MX. For running I look for a 58" belt or longer, 20" width, but read the treadmilldoctor reviews. They are very helpful and will teach you a lot.

Re: Treadmills
Landis is top of the line and costs major bucks. Precor and the pro models are second tier. PaceMaster and the mid-market models are third tier.

Treadmills have a lot of things that can break down--electronics, motor, bed, etcetera. Warranty service and reliability are key.

You might get lucky with cheaper brands and run on them for years without a problem. But then again, you might not. To be on the safe side, go from third tier on up.

Re: Treadmills
You might check into you local thrift or SA store. I've seen used TM's there for one or two hundred dollars. Check them out in the store. I they work well for about 20 minutes, you probably found a good one. It dies in a few years, you?re only out what you paid for it.

I have a True that has worked great for me. I've had it about five years and no problems. I use it on average twice a week.
