I heard he won a silver medal at something called the Commonwealth Games. I dunno.

Babcock's from Chatham? I never knew that. Kinda explains why she's so fast though. Running, drinking, and watching the ethanol plant while drinking are about the only things to do there.
Also wasn't Dana Buchanon at Hawaii last year?

Nice to see Malindi come back after a year of injuries.
She's going to have good season. She will be an excellent
5k runner - very talented athlete. MVT has done a good job coaching her.

Sully will run 5000 this year and break the Canadian record
probably in the 13:10-13:15 range. He could also break Scheibler"s 10k record if he wanted to

Too bad Bairu's planning to break Scheibler's 10k record this year.

Fred- He could run sub 7:40 for the 3000 outdoors or probably
sub 13:10 5k. He should have a good season this year.
He'll probably break some Canadian records this year during
the track season.

Alex- Bairu is quite capable of running sub 27:30 that would be great to see him do that. He's a great runner.

Re: Ontario Middle Distance
Fred,

I was at wld XC with Kurt when he was a Jr......we had a few Jr. yahoos on the team that yr that were very talented, but you could tell that Kurt had his head on straight....all of us on that team from coaches to athletes were very impressed with how he handled himself....you could tell then that he had both the phys and mental tools to be a very good runner (good developemtnal coach in Geordie Farrell)....needless to say I think he was also a wee bit mortified when a few better known athletes proceeded to have a few too many cocktails a little too early.....funny thing was the grp who were trying to get all the free beers before they ran out ( a who's who of running in N. America from athletes to officials)...kinda hilarious and pathetic all at the same time..... i rememebr as i left the hotel (we didn't sleep as we had to leave at 6 am) telling Kurt that there was a reason he had been our top Jr that day, and you could also see that he had the maturity to understand exactly what i meant....

Re: Ontario Middle Distance
I've got two things to add to this thread.
Well actually three.
1. Benninger will be an NCAA champ, most likely next year. I've only seen him race a couple times, he was usually a little ways ahead of me in high school.
2. Fred, how do you think Windsor will fare next year now that CM has been declared ineligable?
3. Denton, you'll probably see this on a thread on Trackie, but I thought I'd go to you for your expertise on the playing regualtions of CIS XC and Track. How many non-championship races may you compete in before it counts as a year of eligability? 2 or 3?
