Racing in Early pregnancy-requesting experiences of others please
Anyone out there - either personally, or knows of someone- who had put in the miles and trained for a marathon only to find out that during the one month-out taper time she's pregnant? My marathon is August 19 - I'm a fast runner that has done over a dozen marathons. so I'm conditioned (resting HR is extremely low-38bpm) and had a great last few long runs up to a 22 miler and am completely done with the really long runs until race time.
I know people hate most of all to give any advice (besides "rest")to pregnant women, BUT... I'm active and I've been told by my doctor that if my body is already conditioned for it i could do it, but maybe should not for piece of mind. I'm just wanting to know what OTHER active women's experiences have been on this. Anyone?
I figure i'd be a little slower, as I ran 2 hours last weekend and had to slow it down a bit, which was a little annoying, but necessary. By the time of the race I will be about 7 weeks along. Maybe I should just do a half marathon...or give up the race to be safe. Everyone is different, but it would help to know others experiences...good and bad.. and i'll make up my own mind.
