Maine Runners

Just looking to have us Mainers be able to meet each other here and maybe learn some great places to run, etc.

the boulevard on back bay in portland is a running hot spot. but it can get old, and miserable in bad weather. monjoy hill is a challenge.

Re: Maine Runners

I grew up in York, Maine.  I used to love to run from the Harbor over the Wiggly Bridge and then up through town.  Or from the Harbor along the Fisherman's Walk to Long Sands and around the Nubble.  It's nice because it's usually cooler along the coast, and plus there is always something beautiful to look at (either lobster boats, sail boats, or bikini-clad tourists).

sigh  I miss the coast.  But...the Rockies aren't a bad running setting either.

I'm in Brunswick on the Bath border. I do most of my runs around here, between Brunswick and North/West Bath. Lots of hill training. When I get bored with that, or sick of hills I run the back cove. This weekend I"m planning to run the course for the maine half.

Ugh Munjoy hill...I've encountered that one a few times.

Re: Maine Runners

I live in Brunswick too!  If anyone is interested in starting a running group...I would definitely be interested.  I ran with one at NAS Brunswick but now that school has started I am unable to meet at the times the group runs.  Email me and let me know if anyone would like to start running together!

Re: Maine Runners

Hi,
I live in Raymond, Maine and I'm in desparate need of some new long routes to run.  I'm willing to travel at least an hour away and am looking for something in the 12 - 15 mile range.  I love trail running, but I usually run alone and always wonder if it's safe to do so on trails?  Any thoughts ideas are so welcome!  Thanks in advance.

Re: Maine Runners

I'm in the Gardiner/Augusta area.  There are a couple cool places to run, like the Rail trail which is in the process of becoming a 2 miler from a one miler, so It's not UP and BACK and UP and BACK.  I like to run right along the river road so I can watch the world wake up early in the morning.

Re: Maine Runners

Oh and I'm new at running...but I've set my sights on the Beach to Beacon next August just to see if I can.  Has anyone else run it and can tell me what kind of terrain I'm looking at?

Is that the club that ran on Thurs @ 12?  If so, I ran with them a few times....I am so bummed that I can't do it anymore since school has started (USM).  Aren't you guys training to do a half marathon soon?

I got to Portland a lot but never to run. I should definately get more familiar. Never heard of those places.

Are you serious?? You live in Brunswick and have never run the back cove? That and the prom are great running paths, much quieter than the Bike path. Bleck..I can't run on that.

You're link doesn't seem to be working for me.
