Yes that's what it is from what I've heard...But that's for the 3 meets, regional and states and the national are here in Portland. So that's not to bad!!!! There's no way to start a team were you work or combine with someone else?

If you want to discuss off the forum you can contact me at rbouthil@maine.rr.com.

Well I ran Charbo's 5 Miler in Mass this past Sunday. Oh my god was it cold and windy! I guess that I shouldn't have expected anything but, after all this is New England. I have been fighting a chest cold and seriously thought about not running, but my competitive side got the best of me. I went and ran as well as I could considering the cold, wind and my chest cold. And boy did I suffer for it yesterday, spent the whole day in bed, but I am feeling better today and can actually savor the fact that I got a PR. I finished in 35:19 (my time which was also their time when I crossed) but they didn't use chips and really screwed the times up and they have me at 35:29, they even have me listed twice on the web site but with the same finishing time! Well the 10 seconds wouldn't make a difference anyway you look at it. My goal was to finish between 35 and 38 minutes so I am very pleased with my time considering how crappy I felt. I am not sure what is next on the agenda, I am still feeling some smaller races out and will make some decisions soon.

Nice race Bob, sounds like the conditions weren't ideal for racing that day, but yet you still PR'd, congrats!!!!!

My wife and a few of her girlfriends have signed up for the Beach to Beacon. They're looking to me for running advises and want me to be their 'running coach'. Yikes, a coach and give advises, I definitely don't qualify, I've only been running about 2 years myself!!! Regardless, I've been trying to get my wife to run with me, so it'll be fun, running/training with my wife for the Beach to Beacon.

Hey good job Bob considering all of the conditions you did well. I take it you will not be going back there soon!

Has anyone ever done the race in Kennebunkport that's coming on April 3? Any thoughts good or bad?

I had also considered doing the Presidential Run on the 3rd, but with the weather looking kind of gloomy and not being 100% recovered from my chest cold I think I'm going to pass on this one.

Best of Luck to those who run this weekend.

PS - Did everyone see that Joan Benoit Samuelson has dropped out of the Olympic Trials...too bad...she notes an achilles tendon injury and has wisely chosen to take any chances.

Has anyone been on the Gambo road trail yet and what kind of shape is in?

Any good races coming up in the area?
I'll probably do the Sea dogs next in May!

I too will be doing the Sea Dogs 5K. That was the only 5K I ran in last year and I PR'd, so it'll be interesting to see how I do this year.

Does anyone know about the Run for the Children 5K in Gorham (4/25)? I've never heard of that race.

Hey if you like doing 5k's I guess the best one I did last year was the Elliot race at the end of September. Very fast course very flat and I ran my PR there last year. But the good thing about it is it's a nice crowd around 1000+ last year and real good food and on top of that lots of give aways.

Well what is everyone doing for training; how many days a week and how many miles?

I did 9 on Saturday and 6 on Sunday I run 15 to 20 miles a week right now.

Curly did you get any where with the corporate track? We will be starting practices soon we are only a month away from our first meet.

Hi everyone,
I signed up for Beach to Beacon. I am excited! However, I did my longest run ever over the weekend and now my left knee is just about killing me. It didn't hurt at the time but I'm bummed out that I've already had to take two days off!
Has anyone ever done Team in Training? I saw in sundays paper a little blip about it. I think I might attend the info. night just to see what it's all about.
Talk to you all later.

Sara,
I guess your knee is telling you that maybe you may have jumped and did too many miles or too fast. Are you using the 10% rule? Don't forget to use the RICE method. Good luck

T in T seems to be a good cause and I have given some thought about checking it out. If you go let us know what you think!

Sara - Yes, I've ran with TNT before. I trained and ran last year's Dublin Marathon with them and I still get together on weekends with the current marathon training group. I don't want to do too much plugging, but TNT definitely get 2 thumbs up from me. If you have the time and interest, go to the meeting. This will give you an opportunity to talk to the mentors and coach to get a better feel of TNT. If TNT sounds like something you would like to do, you can then attend the kickoff meeting to get to know the coach and your fellow training partners.

Training wise, I'm currently running 4/5 days per week and getting in 25-35 mpw with 1 weekly interval run and 1 weekly tempo run. By late spring, I'll be doing 5/6 days per week and 40+ mpw.
