Re: Maine Runners
Hey I'm sorry I can't help you on that one but I hope you have a good week on vacation!!!!

I noticed that they had 11 runners for the back cove run last week. I was thinking we will be off from our meets this week is anyone up to running a 5K for free on Wednesday at 6PM?
It's a great area to run and just a small group of people. Stu is a nice guy to come out every week from may to October to do that run for anyone interested. Mention it to your teammates and friends and maybe we can meet out there.

For dates and time check: http://www.mainetrackclub.com/RaceSchedule.html[/URL" target="_blank">

Stay dry on your run this weekend ;=)

Re: Maine Runners
Hello folks it been a good weekend and I did my first Raymond run of the year. It was hard but I made all the hills which I couldn't do last year at first. But it was not the hillest of the two runs.

How is everyone else doing it been quite on the board since last week?

Re: Maine Runners
It has been a hectioc week for me Boothy, hopefully things will slow down a bit for me but I don't think so. This is usually the time of year for things to get crazy.

Anyways I found out last week that I got into the Marine Corps Marathon which is on October 31st this year. I am looking forward to that.

I completed a 12 mile run Sunday and felt great with the exception of some of the return run...headed into that strong wind was a real pain in the butt!

Well see you all soon.

Bob
That is great about the Marine Corps marathon and it should be a good time!!!! How many marathon have you run?
I hope to do the Maine 1/2 this year and the full one the following year.

Since the track season started my mileage has dropped some I'm not getting the long runs in. I hope to get back to it after the B2B. I use the hill in Raymond to help build up and maybe we could do it together sometime.

Where do you usually do your running?

How about everyone else how is your training going?

Re: Maine Runners
Boothy I've only completed one full marathon (Disney Marathon - 01/11/04 - 3:50:04) I was really having a pretty good run until I developed a major cramp about two tenths of a mile after mile 24. It took me between 15 & 20 minutes to work it out to a point that I could continue. But I did and finished in a pretty good time none the less.

I will also be running the Maine Marathon this year and intend to use it to try to qualify for Boston. I need a 3:30 to get my BQ. If all is going well then I will give it my all in Maine, if not then I will back off a bit and use it as a training run for the Marine Corps Marathon and use that one to try to qualify. If I am able to have a quality run in Maine then I plan on simply running the Marine Corps Marathon for the pure enjoyment of it! I have heard so much about this race I am really looking forward to running it.

Depending on the distance I am running on any particular day I may run 6 or fewer miles during lunch while in York ar work (love to run the beach route) or I may run a variety of the country roads surrounding Biddeford, Dayton, Lyman, Hollis, Arundal, Kennebunk etc. Those are the areas close to home and there are relatively flat routes or I can choose the hilly routes if I need to run hills.

I would love to give your Raymond route a try sometime, just give me a shout and we can plan something. This coming Sunday will be a 14 miler for me (I think it is the 3rd Sunday run) in the Cool Running Advanced Marathon Training Program. If you take a look at it you can see the runs I have scheduled. I stay pretty much on schedule with it...especially on the weeked runs.

Re: Maine Runners
I was wondering...I have a 3 mile run to do this weekend and we are going on a trip to Bar Harbor. I have searched and searched for a place to run, preferably marked since I am anal and need to know exact distances. Everything I find is a hiking trail and has a lot of steep slopes. Can anyone help me? I would really appreciate it.

Re: Maine Runners
Hi everyone how is everyones running going?

It has been a busy week for me with the track meet Saturday and I did a full schedule of events. But we could not ask for better weather! I have gotten off to a good start to this week and with practice tonight it will add the mileage. I have only been doing 15 to 19 miles a week.

We are only a month and a half away from the B2B how is everyone doing with there training?

Is anyone doing the Maine 1/2 marathon?

Bob I did not see you on Saturday how are things going with you?

Curly how did you feel on your performance last weekend?

Re: Maine Runners
Hi Boothy and all -

I'm moving along slowly and steadily in my training for the B2B - - I'm planning on running the Sportshoe 1/2 in October as well, provided my back holds out. Won't know until I start the "real" training in July! This will be my first half, so we'll see how the back and leg do!

Anyone planning on running at the Clam Festival on July 17th? I'll be just back from a rafting trip, so provided I'm not injured, I'll be there. Also signing up for the Portland Trails 10K on 9/19. I plan to sign up for the Pineland fun run, which is the day before the half, but will probably walk it. Thoughts on running a hilly 5K the day before the half? Probably a bad idea, eh?

Is everyone planning on meeting somewhere at the B2B?
