Hi, I'm heading to Vail next week. Does anybody have any tips on places to run there? Any help would be appreciated.

depends. do you want trails, or do you want road?

when in vail, i typically park my car at the rest area just east of town on I-70, and take shrine pass road into the west side of vail; it's about 14 miles on packed dirt. then, i either run back to the car, or arrange to meet someone in town who can drive me back to the rest stop.

there is a concrete bike path that runs through town. it's very popular, and the views can be great. conversely, the views can be pretty gross once you're next to the freeway.

I prefer trails, but I wasn't sure if there are good ones to run in the winter. I'll check out shrine pass road. Thanks for the info..

Re: Denver/Boulder/Colorado Runners
hi all.

I'm in North Westminster/Broomfield. Run about 9:30 pace. Planning on Bolder Boulder again this year (just too much fun!) - setting a goal of 55:00. Considering Boulder Backroads 1/2 in Sept. I've never run that far, so it would be a good reach for me.

anyone involved with RMRR? They seem to run so far south all the time. I would love to have someone to train with me for Boulder Backroads 1/2 also. Anybody close?

Umm... maybe? What kind of training did you have in mind? What kind of partner are you looking for? I run at a similar pace to you (my 10K pr is 56:08 at the Longmont Turkey trot last year.) I am thinking about doing the Horsetooth half next month, but I'm still undecided, mostly because of the hills. (My longest run to date is 10 miles.)

I gotta admit though, I am terrible at following training plans. I love to run, and as long as I am very flexible, I do ok. My "plan" for the Horsetooth Half has been to do some longer runs and some hills and see how it feels. So, if you are just looking for some company on some longer runs, I would totally be up for it, but if you have something more formal in mind, I think you would find me a real disappointment. Oh, and I live in Longmont.

Nepbug, I use a track at Ulysses Park in Golden, just outside the town center. I think the school is Bell South Middle School.

Hello, all.

Please note that a new thread needs to be started. You can still see this one via searching the archives. It lives in "Best of the Clubhouse." The search function is in the yellow area above the replies.
