Sounds very cool! Of course, since you ran it recently, I'm guessing it'll be close to another year b/4 it's held again (time enough to gather a few team-mates and return). How's the racing scene generally around there?

I'm getting excited! mudrunner, those pix are GREAT!!

Re: BC Runner's Forum
Hi all,
I am from Alberta and going to B.C. this coming week. I am going to be staying in the Kelowna Okanagan Resort. I was reading, around this resort there are lots of hiking trail... does anybody know what they are like (steep, etc.) or if there are nice running paths in Kelowna?
I want to keep running while I am there.

Thanks.

Glad you like 'em!
If you are into doing a short trail race, there is the 5 Peaks series on Cypress[/URL" target="_blank"> that Saturday - you'll drive right by the base of the mountain after you cross Lions Gate Bridge & you are on the highway heading towards Horseshoe Bay/Whistler.

Re: BC Runner's Forum
Oops! Has been a few days since I stopped over here. AAAY and mudrunner, thanks for the race links! mudrunner, that trail race sounds exciting, tho. I wonder if I'd be up to it. My coordination isn't what brought me into running. OTOH, I was in a local trail race that involved huge downed trees, stream crossings, downhills that made my heart stop.... If I did it, I'd just need to finish in one piece so I can keep on with my marathon training.

Regardless of your fitness/coordination level, I would have to recommend that you make the Musical Bumps your first choice.

'nother question...somehow I remember someone saying there were also just plain ol' marked multi-use paths in the area where I could do a 10k tempo run. I promise I'll do some adventuring, but was also wondering if there's some sort of a relatively easily runnable trail/path to take the pace out a little hard (yeah, which for me means trying to break an hour in a 10k, but we go w/ what we have, right?)

That'd be the Lost Lake trails & the Valley Trail that winds from one end to the other.

Heya,

It's a bit late for this...I've been camping with the little Turtles and Mr. Turtlepace on beautiful Lillooet Lake for the past week. Just back and in the middle of preparing tonights Capilano Canyon Midsummer Night Run.

If the rains continues it's going to be muddy and fun. Want to join us? Entry is free to all Club Fat *** members. Affordable annual or day of event membership is available. Details about Club Fat *** at www.clubfatass.com.[/URL" target="_blank">

Tonights run will start in North Vancouver at 8:00pm. Event details and registration at:
http://www.clubfatass.com/CABCVan_summernite/index.html[/URL" target="_blank">

There is a potluck party afterwards.

See you there?

Turtlepace

Re: BC Runner's Forum
Can I just brag a tiny bit?? Last Sunday I ran a 5k. Inaugural one. Pitt meadows airport. Anyway, long story short I won the M/F 40 - 49 category!!!!!! Boy I never expected that!! There were only 87 people in the race, but that winning thing.........feels good!!!
And the marathon training continiues........for me..........but not this weekend. I was away for the weekend at my parents and slacked off........in a big way. I did swim every night at indoor pool, but didnt run at all. In the morning.........I plan to kick butt (with myself!!) Need a looooooonnnnnng one........ BTW my time was terrible in the race, I think it must have been longer than 5k.......cuz i ran 23 something.....flat course. My best was 22:09.

Re: BC Runner's Forum
Congrats on the 5K award, Maureen! Based on your times in the last two half marathons, I'm not surprised you won your division.

I hate it when courses are the wrong length - you said you think the 5K was too long. Did anyone else do the Footsteps for Leukemia "10K" yesterday, through Pacific Spirit Park? I finished in 39:54. Should be an incredible time for me, especially on trails, but I'm sure it was actually closer to 9K. No awards for me, unfortunately; they didn't record times or give awards (except for fundraising). I think I did finish 3rd overall, though, out of 100+ people. Full writeup in race reports.

Still trying to decide on a marathon for Oct. 10th. I think I'm leaning towards Victoria, although I wish they would hurry up and post the elevation profile.

Today I have a 17 miler scheduled, right after my tune-up 10K race yesterday! Well, I will just trust Pfitzinger and go out and try it...
