Well, looks like they needed extra bodies at the water station, so I'll be there after all (will do my run afterwards). Will be wearing a red cap & blue jacket & likely have rain pants on! Jenn<HR>

Ill be looking out for you! I'm not sure what I'm going to wear tomorrow yet...looks like a white (with navy blue) New Balance singlet and black Nike running shorts if not maybe the short sleeve Polartec shirt that came with the race kit with a blue runningroom vest ... yeah I'm going to tough it out in the rain and showers tomorrow...

Wendy's Get Your Fat *** Off The Couch Race Report:

Geoff Palmer has done it again!

The transplanted Winnipeger who set a distance record in this years running of the Mountain Highway Madness did it again at "Wendy's Get Your Fat *** Off the Couch" by running the longest distance of the day (34k) and finishing in 4:10. This Manitoba flatlander has dominated our local mountains in a true test of endurance. Congratulations!

With the fear that we would be running in the rain, it turned out to be a fairly dry Saturday morning when 17 brave souls congregated at the Ron Andrews Rec Centre in North Vancouver, BC for the 2nd running of this Club Fat *** event.

The short course was led and a course record set by Kyle McCoy from Georgia , USA and local Scott Riddel, finishing in a time of 1:47. They were followed close behind by Chris Benn and fourth place finisher Desmond Mott. The first women across the finish line were Melissa Pace and Catherine Harrison in a time of 2:10.

At this time, I only know of two participants that were briefly lost, Mike Palethorpe and Kathy Nomura. Fortunately, they met up with Sibylle who pointed them in the right direction.

With a bit more tweaking of the course descriptions and the addition of a third distance, I hope next year's race will be an even bigger success... but don't count on the big ticket draw prizes for a third year in a row. ☺

Please find the full results at: http://www.clubfatass.com/CABCVan_Wendys/results.html[/URL" target="_blank">

Thank you to everyone who participated in my event and don't forget to sign up for the two November events on the BC Club Fat *** calendar: Nov 20 "Go Deep or Go Home 80/20" and "Mike and Melissa's Fun Run" on November 27. I hope to see everyone there!

we nearly fell off the page!! How is everyone doing?? Gearing up for Hallowe'en?? OK, I have 2 kids and Hallowe'en is all I have heard about since September!! I am still in recovery mode, running some, cross training more, and stretching lots. Starting a new job, so I have been working a lot. Trying to psych up for those cold, damp runs of winter.........

Anyone going to the James Cunningham Seawall race (5.9 miles) this weekend on Halloween? Weird distance but overall it's ok. Costumes are encouraged but optional...I think there is a prize for the best costume. I'm hoping to recover by race day for I had a beast of an interval workout on Wednesday which I haven't fully recuperated from due to a sore left hamstring. I took Friday off and it's getting better...I better be ready by Sunday!

Sure feel for the participants in the H2H (Haney to Harrison) relay & ultra today!! Especially those hardy souls doing the ultra! It is yechy out -- good hypothermia type weather! Wishing hard for a drying trend over the next couple of weeks as I signed up for the Fall Classic 1/2. Hope everyone's running is going well.

Yoohoo...Anybody out there?? Our thread's falling to the bottom of the page! How's everyone's training/racing going? Mine's been going well though term papers and exams are starting to clog up my schedule...I'll be running the Fall Classic Half next weekend...hope to see some of you there. Cheers

Tim

Hi everybody! I hope everyone is running healthy and taking advantage of these sporadic beautiful days, like today....... Unfortunately I cant at the moment. I did a very stupid thing last Friday evening and am now paying for it. Was sitting nice and cozy in my jammies and decided the dog needed to get out for one last time in the evening, in the dark, in the rain.......... Just slipped on a pair of summer sandals and off we went. I brilliantly decided to run him down a steep hill next to our home and guess what happened. Besides my nose, forehead, chin, elbow, finger injuries the worst of it is my knee. It hit hard and is still swollen and very colorfully bruised. X rays showed no fracture, but I am worried about the ligaments. We have to wait for the swelling to go down....doc says 10 - 14 days. It is no fun being sidelined..... That is my whine for the day. Thanks for listening and Happy Running to all!!

Awwwwww you poor thing!

You aren't training for anything right now are you? If not that will help ha.. Hey maybe it is a sign to have a little rest so you will be stronger and faster the next time hmmm I know this isn't helping! I understand! Take care of that leg and the rest of your body parts and you will be back at it in no time

Thanks Ladysmith.......... I think you have a point there, a little slowdown could be a good thing. As for training my plan was........... start training this weekend for the "First Half" in Feb, and then crank it up to re-qualify for Boston in the Vancouver International full in May. "the best laid plans", and all of that But its all OK, I know I can run a decent half with less than 12 weeks prep, at least I could before this happened....... we shall see
