Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
What about just going to the theatre and getting the tickets, when we went Sat. afternoon, no one was in line and hardly anyone in the theatre.

It would be easy for someone on holidays to go to the theatre a little early to miss the crowds. Are you taking the kids?

Hey Grizz, did you see the preview for Harry Potter 3?

(edited to add the smile, so you know I'm just bugging you, jealous really that you aren't at work)

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
So, having lunch with the boss today... so is it wrong for me to order a drink?

He's taking me for lunch for Christmas and as a little thank you for some extra work I did for an event we did.

So, Grizz as a supervisor what impression does it make on you, does it matter being male or female?

I'm thinking about this way too much....

I know very different look to it. HP3 - but getting much older, don't know if it's for my kids yet.... have to wait and see.

Ok, so I did, had 2 glasses of wine over 2 hours... he suggested it. Was very nice. First time we've had a chance to really talk about work etc. It was a good lunch.

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
torque - not sure if this info is coming too late, but we ordered our tickets online for LOTR and just give the cashier at the theatre the same credit card you used to pay for the tickets online and they automatically print out the tickets there for you (that was at Famous Players-Chinook).

Michelle - I think you'll do great and with a Grizzly as a pacer, what more do you need. The last time I did the Glenmore reservoir loop, I was heading up 'the' hill past Weaselhead flats and felt incredibly winded...until...I looked up ahead and saw a guy doing it in his wheelchair. DH says he's seen him doing that hill before...so it must be part of his training. I was inspired and the whining was over.

Good luck and to those running together this weekend! Enjoy!! I'll be thinking of you.

Off for a run right now...cheers!

Howdy all! Hope Santa was good to those who believe

I need a favour... Can any of you Calgarians point me in the right direction as to where the good PT's are? I've gone to physio in the past for skating injuries, but they didn't seem to know what to do with me so I'm looking for somewhere new.

I have been trying to run again - after taking 2 months off to heal my self-diagnosed plantar faciitis - but it is painful. Not while I run, but the morning/day/evening after. I have had it up to here with it, so I think I'm ready to look at physio and/or orthodics.

I live in McKenzie Towne, where we have two: McKenzie Towne Physical Therapy, and South Trail Sport Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation. Also, Lindsay Park is near my work. Any opinions on these places?

Much obliged!

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
Hey there..I was wondering if you had gone back underground. Both Goldens, her hubby, and I used a fantastic PT at Canadian Sports Rehab near the University...unfortunately she is currently on Mat. leave but has been doing orthodics though. Just got mine a few weeks ago and they're awesome.

If you would like, I could ask her to recommend a PT that works out of Lindsay Park?

BTW...just curious as to the origins of your user name...speedskater perhaps?

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
Nope - Figure. Skater, that is. The Crouching part was funny a few years ago, and I thought it made me sound tough

Hmmm, who is your therapist at CSR? That's where I used to go, and I felt they rushed me in and out, and didn't do a whole lot for me. It could have just been my PT, or it could have been the nature of my injury. I had a nasty, horrible ankle sprain on my landing leg (crutches for weeks! I still whine about it!), then later, a broken arm. But maybe because they weren't chronic, I didn't need as much working on.

Anyway, it's mighty nice of you to see if your PT can recommend someone! I'd appreciate that a lot. If you could ask about the rep. of the McKenzie Towne therapist(s), that'd be great, too!

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
I hate early morning phone calls. The first one was several weeks ago, my hubbys uncle, calling saying his dad was very sick.

So, today the phone rings early. This time it's my dad calling for me. My grandpa is in the hospital, can't breathe on his own, his kidneys have shut down. He has a very severe case of phnemonia and with an infection in his blood. He's on life support, he has 48 hours to start breathing on his own, if he doesn't, it means he probably never will.

He's had Parkinsons every since I can remember, and was just diagnoised in the last couple of years with Alzehmers.

My grandparents are like parents to me, I lived with them for alot of my teenage years. He is such an amazing man, with such a lovely heart. He is so gentle. He has changed so much in the last few years that I almost don't recognise him.

What a time, on Dec 23, one of my Aunts died, brain cancer.

so, I'm waiting to hear more news from my dad, he said he would give us 12 hours notice before taking him off life support, so we could get there to say goodbye. (need to get to Saskatoon)

Sorry for the spelling mistakes, and I just needed to get this out.

Michelle - I'm so sorry to hear about the recent news. There is something about holidays. We just received a call that the spouse of one of DH's cousins died from a heart attack - 44 years old. Very difficult time for everyone.

Please know our thoughts are with you and your family.

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
Thanks Grizz and Goldens... good news this morning... he is breathing on his own, not out of danger yet, but it's a good sign.

I'm all up for a July run... did you go outside today Grizz?
