Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
So, I'm off on a seminar in Banff for 3 days. Staying at the Banff Springs. First time ever. Hubby will be joining me on Saturday for a little adult (no children or dog) time.

I'm very excited to be going, hope you all have a nice week.

Yes...being away with your honey is definitely better than a half-marathon. I think the race is called the 'Last Chance Half Marathon (1st annual)'.

Just registered the other day...hope the pathways are good. Did you register Goldens?

Hi Grizz
Hi Michelle.

Busy working in the basement these days and I actually see teh light at the end of the tunnel. Should be done by the end of the week..well, the stuff I need to do anyway. Carpet was to be installed today but there was a discrepancy in the dye lot and they have to reorder the whole shebang. So, the due date is now Dec. 1st.

Hi Guys...how's everything out there in God's Country??

I'm working at Running Room, leading clinics, leading running groups and having a pantload of fun.

I'm planning on the Las Vegas half...it's near Calgary isn't it??

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
Hey Albertans, I hope you guys are all well. I've got a political question of sorts for you. If the US isn't taking our live cattle, but it is taking cuts of meat, why are we not building more slaughter houses and meat packers and sending our beef down instead of the live cattle? It's just a thought as it appears we have 4 more years of the texan. You'd think that the jobs would go up in the building and technical side, not to mention the farmers wouldn't be sitting on cattle they can't sell.

Anybody got an answer to that - I figured asking Albertans would be the smartest thing I could do.

It got to 6 above here today and the snow is melting. Here's hoping it lasts!

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
torque - Basement renos...very nice! No doubt you'll love having the extra usable space. Haven't signed up yet. Apparently, I have a bit more time and I'm using it to ensure the 'leg is good enough to go'. Still very tight, but have an appt with my old PT while I am back in Ontario on Monday. We'll see what he says.

jc - God's country...ahhhh, the angels are singing, the air is clean, and I'm enjoying a huge cup of coffee! Come on out. I'm sure the RR stores would welcome you with open arms. As for Vegas...very cool! Would love to do that one as well.

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
Goldens...I'm telling our PT that you called her "old". That should be good for a few extra pointy elbows.

Dawn....I'm thinking that it has something to do with the Americans actually owning the slaughter houses. I just have a feeling that if a few independants were to start operating (I think I would actually invest with those guys) the Americans would find a way to only accept beef from the biggies...XL Beef, Gargill, and Lakeside Packers.

These guys have the provincial govt. in their back pocket with the amounts of money they supply the PC party. Any recommendations made on their part would certainly be accepted by the govt. The packers set the cattle pricing and they work together to corner the market. Any independant packer would be buried quickly.

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
huh? What's up with your daughter, torque? Hope nothing serious!!

As for 'old' PT...it's not her!! Are you kidding...she's a cutie! No, I have to be in Toronto on Monday, so while I'm there I am going to see the PT that I went to while living there....thus 'old'=previous.

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
Goldens, she has been sick since the middle of July. Don't know what's going on but she had a miserable time with intestinal bloating that left her sreaming in pain in the fetal position. Headaches that Tylonel would not touch and she lost about 4 lbs.

Since that time, the bloating episodes have become fewer and the headaches, the same. We have been feeding her a supplementary diet drinks to try to get her weight up and it seems to be working.

She just had a gastroscopy done with the tests coming back negative...nada...zip. Each test they conduct eliminates something else but leaves us still scratching our heads. We are now waiting to see a specialist on auto-immune diseases. Her blood indicates something wonky is going on but as of yet, they haven't discovered what the heck is going on.

It was a really special week that summer because Ben was also preliminary diagnosed with having Tourettes syndrome..Oh joy...oh bliss....

Hope that answers your question Grizz.

torque - the poor kid! It must be horrible for all concerned when no reasons can be found for the bloating and pain. Sending tons of positive thoughts that they are able to figure it out soon.

Re: Alberta Runner's Forum II
bump

Well, it was a bit chilly this morning, but a perfect day for a half-marathon. I like this kind of weather for long runs.

Grizz, Michelle....I definitely recommend this one. Torque was tearing up the course once again. He just keeps getting faster! The entry fee also included a great lunch at Brewsters after the race, so it was nice to sit back and relax.

I think we should all mark it in our calendars for 2005.

Look who's talking Miss "Set-a-PR-Of-My-Own-Today"

I'll echo what Goldens said...good flat course with a really nice lunch afterwards. I'll be running this one again...I can see it getting popular quickly.

Thanks again for the lift home Goldens...my legs appreciate it.

PS...Shadow does really love you deep down you know.

PPS...Photos are up already...couldn't finds the results yet though. You look good with your finishline pic..they don't seem to have any from 1:35 - 1:38 however...I must have broken the camera.
