Dallas/Fort Worth Runners where are you?????

Where have we all gone DFW runners?  I know I disappeared for at least a few months.  Lets get together and run or at least talk about it on here.  I live in South Arlington by the Parks Mall if anyone is interested in going on some early A.M. runs.  I personally could you use a poermanent training partner if anyone out there is looking to seriously get there times down.  Hope to here from somebody soon........

They're all still here.  How is your training going?  Have you been racing at all?  Good luck with finding a training partner.  Sorry I can't help-I'm too far from Arlington.  I know there are a lot of runners up that way, just not sure if they read these message boards.

Which race do you mean-the Labor Day one, or another one?  They're having a 5K and 15K on Labor Day.  I'm still debating which one to do.  So far my longest run is 9 miles, and I've only done that twice, and not at a very fast pace.  And 15K would be about 9.3 miles, right?

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Runners where are you?????

Hey guys!  I'm going to do the Labor Day 5k myself.  I'd love to do the 15k, but it will be the day after my long run, and I'm afraid to push that much.

Lots of good races coming up it looks like.

Sorry...but I'm in Ft. Worth also, but do work near you. It's a shame they would frown on me leaving class to run.

Hey, I might make it too! I'd like to do the 15K (love those longer races), but I have to be somewhere else later that morning and might not have to be out there that long.

See y'all there, I hope!

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Runners where are you?????

Kattzoo, why not switch days?  Use the 15K as your long run?  I've got the entry form filled out, but I'm scared to death to send it in-I signed up for the 15K.  That's longer than I've ever run.  I did the Labor Day 5K a couple of years ago, and I watched the finishers of the longer race (I think it was 15K then also), and someone passed out or something, at the finish line, and the ambulance took them off.  That picture is just sitting there in the back of my mind.  But I know better than to push myself that hard.  Still nervous.  I'll probably send the form in by Wednesday.

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Runners where are you?????

I would love to switch training days, but I train with a group on Sundays and to be honest, the push me running more than I push myself.  I did a 15k last month, and agree with GreenMan...I like the longer distances!  You could easily do the race if you've run 9, but it may not be enjoyable, especially if it's HOT.

School did start on Monday (and I am at Martin).  It's nice to have the kids back, it makes it fun.  Not as fun as sitting at the house getting paid though!     Does your girlfriend like her job?

See you guys at the race!

kattzoo: Which 15K did you do last month? I was at Too Hot to Handle, and if I'd'a realized you were there I'd'a looked for you. (If that was it, that is.)

Last night I finally joined a friend for a "running date" we've been trying to set up, and had a great time. She says she'll be there on Labor Day, so I guess now I really can't miss it. I'll probably still do the 5K anyway because I have to be cleaned up and downtown before 10am.

See y'all there!

Hey GreenMan!  I did the "Too Hot to Handle" also.  It lived up to it's name!  I didn't push at all on that one and was glad I didn't.

They revised our marathon training schedule, so I'm going to do the 15k. At this point, I plan on running it as my long run and not at race pace, but that may change depending on the weather and how I feel that morning.

Looking forward to meeting everyone there!

It was a hot one. I pretty much faded into oblivion the last 5K. (I always take a bit too optimistic a view regarding the weather and so on.)

Did you see that woman who almost won the 5K?? At 17:31 she was only 5 seconds behind the first guy. The following weekend she won a 15K relay women's division all by herself and won a Trinity 5K outright with a sub-17.    Someone told me she runs for SMU.

Another woman ran a sub-17 this weekend, at the Run in the Dark. Wow.

Her name is Natalie Nalepa.  She won the Barking Fish outright-even beat all the men.  I'm not sure what she looks like, but there was this one woman who caught my eye at the starting line.  She was pure muscle, no body fat.  That must have been her.  That's all I saw of her.  She was off like a bullet, waaaaay ahead of the rest of us!

Re: Dallas/Fort Worth Runners where are you?????

I do remember seeing her coming back and just behind a few men.  At first I didn't think she was part of the race until I saw her number.  She can fly, especially doing that well in that heat.  She must be phenomenal.  There was also a 13 year old boy who did incredibly well at that race.  I bring up the back of the pack, so I never get to see any fast finishes.   !http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|src=http://www.coolrunning.com/forums/smile.gif|border=0!
