Long Beach, CA

Where does one go for a run in Long Beach? I know that there is the bike path by the Queen Mary - is that (or any other recommendations) near the LB Convention Center?

I'm not real familiar with Long Beach, but I know that the convention center is near the Queen Mary. I've run the Long Beach Marathon several times and I lot of the course ran along the scenic coast. Stay near the beach and you can't go wrong. There are some bad areas inland and shipping yards to the north that you want to stay away from.

Re: Long Beach, CA
I'm a beginning runner in LB, so for now I am sticking to the grass at Bluff Park. It's 1.5-miles from my apartment to the art museum -- good for now. Eventually I may try the bike path, but I am prone to shin splints so I am always looking for more forgiving terrain.

The MudMan World Tour continues!

I don't have any tips for you, but I will tell you that the Long Beach Marathon was my first and only DNF (I can smile about it now )
I'll be down south (City of Orange) the weekend of the 14th/15th, when are you gonna be there?

(Nine-year-old info here)
El Dorado Park, along the San Gabriel "River" is nice. Check out the Nature Centure while you're there.

If you run El Dorado I would do it early in the day as it gets a bit smoggy late in the day. It is a nice area but it runs along the 605 Fwy.

if you are downton, just run the bike path along the beach. as for a track, not sure of any you can use in the afternoon. you could try long beach state, the high schools would be in use in the afternoon i think
