Running in Newton, Iowa

I am going to be in Iowa for a conference this weekend and I am looking for some good places to run. I am staying in Newton, Iowa and my conference is at Central College in Pella.

Can anyone suggest some good places to run?

Karen:

I live in Des Moines. We're about 30 min from Newton. If you want to drive into Des Moines (80 West to I 235W - Go to the Botanical Center on the River. You can catch a paved bike trail there and take it North along the river.. Or, south into town and then further on thru along the river..

If you don't want to drive into des moines, there is the "Neal Smith Nature Trail" out there somewhere. I think it's south and west of Newton (West of Pella).. Ask at the hotel.. and I"m sure they can direct you to it..

I'm not familiar enough with Newton (small town) to know of anywhere right there..

Hope this helps.. Come back to Iowa the first of June for the Dam to Dam 20K race..It's the 25th year and gonna be a great time!!
